basically the same lang....mas madali pa nga yan kesa sa mga timing belt equipped engines.

sa timing belt driven valvetrain, kelangan mo muna tanggalin timing belts at sprockets bago mapalitan oil seal. sa timing gear driven, only the v-belts and crank pulley.

    eto check mo:https://www.google.com.ph/url?sa=t&r...76802529,d.cGU

yung injection pump lang naiba afaik.

4ja1 is timing belt driven camshaft engine. Cam seal, front crankshaft seal, idler pulley and timing belt are replaced as a set (MAW-might as well) to save time, reduce inconvenience and save money routine

There are two "designs" of the 4ja1 engine. The local 4ja1 uses timing gears. The surplus 4ja1's use timing belts.

OEM for isuzu (LS, KB, fuego, standard dmax, hilander, crosswind) is the gear driven push rod version for the phil market....not sure on other countries. surplus engines are belt driven.

In which case, it is even easier to replace the front main seal after the crank pulley is removed

    Mga Gurus,

I might work on the seal this week end, pero di ko pa nasubukan talaga kahit ma remove man lang yung belts (compressor and alternator), san ba ang tensioner nun na ma pag simulan tangalin para ma remove mga belts? tapos, anung numero nung bolt ng pulley, para makabili na ako ng socket before starting to remove, baka kasi wala sa existing sockets ko.

    Thanks in advance.

19 or 21 mm....worst case e baka nasa 36 mm or even larger....pwede mo naman icheck muna yung sockets mo. may konting space pa naman para ipasok yung socket.

use the best brand of seal and a good silicone sealant. yung akin federal mogul yung ginamit kong oil seals at yung permatex na red sealant. so far so good.

    Oxygen sensor safer rtv sealant
Do not install the oil seal dry, pre lubricate the oil seal lip with engine oil or vaseline

done replacing, I brought it on a nearby mechanic

    here's what they did.

    1. removed compressor, ps pump and alternator belt.
    2. remove fan
    2. removed some cover, based on manual its a rubber noise cover ...
    3. put a socket, i forgot the number, they did not removed the radiator
    4. put the gear to engage mode and hit the brake, then turn the socket holder ( facing the bolt of pulley - counter clock wise turn with tube holding the power handle of socket), i think they did the gear engament and brake to lock the crankshaft and so the pulley bolt can be loosen. - it work.

    - then after oil seal in place, and return everything, run the engine and observed. there is still a leaking, but not on the oil seal, instead on the portion of the gearcase cover, they said that there is an o-ring behing it and might need to be replace.. well, at least I know what is the problem i am going to attack next.

Socket to use for the pulley bolt of 4Ja1 is 24MM. Just to record.
