Kanina pa ako nag google about rear wings and spoilers ang sabi they improve the drag coefficient, kung ganun can they also improve the car's mileage, tama ba?

if I install one on my stock car that frequently runs 90-100 kph on the windy star tollway going to and from batangas gumanda kaya mileage ng tsikot ko, I know they are useless in traffic

sa mga expert po please enlighten me, thanks in advance

No. Wings and spoilers when properly made create downforce at high speed and increase drag in the process. The higher the angle of the wing/spoiler the higher the drag it creates. It's a matter of compromising a lower coefficient of drag with downforce created. Depending on the cars cd a wing/spoiler would normally just increase drag and not lower your cd. Most aftermarket wing/spoilers are not wind tunnel tested and even if they were you can't make a universal wing/spoiler because the cd of cars are all different. The only wing/spoiler that would be functional on your car needs to be wind tunnel tested for your specific model car.

actually, installing that for use in daily traffic would even make your fuel economy worst, dahil mas bibigat ang oto mo.

Spoilers afaik e para itulak ung rear ng kotse on the road and also causes drag. Alam ko din epektib ito sa mga rear wheel drive cars to increase speed only. dahil mas makapit ung gulong sa kalsada pero hindi sa mga front wheel drive cars. u need front wings for front wheel drive cars.

It does not make better fuel mileage because it causes drag. adds weight as you increase speed.

The spoiler actually doesn't increase speed in rwd cars it creates drag. What it does do is create better traction and stability at high speed. An example of this are the cars used at the Bonneville Salt Flats during speed week for world record top speed runs, granted they are jet powered but if you notice there are no wings to create more drag.

Heres another site that explains everything much better.

no. they will not improve a car's fuel mileage.

if you want improved mileage, you should lower all possible drag & frictional losses. Use very skinny tires and inflate them at high pressures. Remove all excess weight from the car like rear seats, spare tire, carpet, unused tools, door panels, radio, speakers, etc. Remove excess engine bay parts like aircon system, windshield wiper motor, sprayer assembly. Remove excessive drag external items like antenna, side mirrors, car badges, etc. Tape up all seams of the car like the hood to fender, doors, trunk lid.

Sounds extreme but it is possible to get better mileage from a "stock" car. You just wont like the results. hehehe

Nope - and ditto to what M54, redorange and GH had said. This article from Wikipedia might be of help in giving your more info.

IMO, mostly pang japorms. I saw a Kia Pride (sedan) na may rear-wing - kamukha nung naka-kabit sa McLaren F1 na roadcar. Yung width nung wing eh mas malapad pa kaysa width nung kotse tas mas mataas ata ng about a foot sa bubong.

well, it made my car's rear easily visible.. and kung sa parking di sinara ng sekyu ung trunk, pag nahumps/lubak, sarado agad...(added wt.)

spoilers? additional drag lang yan. the only spoiler i will recommend are the OEM spoiler that they supply at car dealers. that is wind tunnel tested. pag bili mo ng brand new car palagyan mo na sa dealer. but for aftermarket spoilers, NO.

:rofl01:

Can rear wing/spoilers improve fuel economy
