April 8th, 2011 09:12 PM #1i have a '93 corolla xe. it was submerged last Ondoy. fc was 10-10.5 kpl before Ondoy and it has been at 7.5 - 8 kpl after . carb was replaced with 5k unit. i have been using shell unleaded (non e10) and fuel consumption has improved to 8.5 kpl. my last fill-up was at shell with e-10 already. recently given a gasoline allowance, but i have to fill-up at caltex (the company has a credit line with them). just wanted to know your experiences with caltex silver for carb engines. thanks.

in my experience using e-10 in my carb engine humina ang hatak and nag-drop ang fuel economy. minsan in heavy traffic namamatay ang engine.

Caltex products suck.
Go for Shell Premium, this is what I use on my 1.3L '96 Corolla since E-10 was endorsed & so far there were no problems experienced just yet.
Of course ethanol affects a vehicle's fuel efficiency. It makes it go down by about a liter per KM or so.

Lahat ata ng Shell Unleaded is of the E-10 variety already.
Blaze lang ba walang ethanol? What about Shell's V-Power?

May 31st, 2011 10:58 AM #9I use premium for my Corolla 93 XE from unleaded. Fuel consumption 12-13 km/liter pag long drive and 8-10 km/liter pag city. Natutupi ang tunog nung nag unleaded ako kaya pinalitan ko ng premium.
Choice I would have made as well.
