    Mga tol!

Posible kayang pakontiin ang fuel consumption ng Nissan Vanette? I just owned a '96 model Vanette, so far ok naman lahat pero yun nga lang, sobrang aksaya sa gas. Minsan, lumalamon ng 5km/liter. As in talagang butas ang bulsa ko. So do you think it's possible? If so, how? Is it tested na to be effective? And ano kaya ang side effect nito?

To those vanette owners, how much is your average fuel consumption? Sa'kin kase is 5km/liter.

    thanks nightrock!

perhaps you could tell me how to instruct the people in the shop coz i really don't know anything about the routine service/change oil that you are talking about. i bought the van just now and it's my first ride so i would really appreciate it if you could teach me the details of how to solve its inefficient fuel consumption problem.

    thanks!

pa-tune up mo lang yan bossing saka medyo gaangan mo ang right foot mo sa gas pedal.

check mo na rin tire pressure, fluid levels, also check your muffler baka may butas.

Since you just got the car, it may be adviseable to do the following:
    - drain and change all your fluids (brake, Power Steering, radiator, gear, axle, etc...).
    - Get a tune-up and change oils (change your spark plugs, check the timing, change also your oil and fuel filters... fuel filter should be changed every 20,000km along with the air filter).
    - Overhaul the carburator and have it tuned properly: Take it to a Carb Specialist shop. They have several along Kamuning/Kamias, i'd recommend "Kamuning CArb Specialists". They can make "sakal" the carb to reduce fuel consumption but it will affect your performance, not good since you need the power with that van.

We used to have one and it would average around 6-7km/L in the city and 8-9 on the highway... We got a change oil and tune-up every 5,000km.

You can also try changing the filter to a free-flow one (Simota, K&N)...

Of course, don't forget to adjust and reevalute your driving style... that can be good for a 1-2km/L difference.

    thanks guys,

kakapa-adjust ko lang ng menor nya kahapon but i think sumobra yata ang baba. Pina-adjust ko to 0.9rpm but nung pinaadar ko yung A/C, the van starts to shake then bumaba yung rpm to 0.8. Nung tinanong ko yung friend ko na may vanette din, sabi nya naka 0.5 lang daw yung van nila and wala namang problema. he adviced me to check my carburator.

i think 0.5 for menor is sobrang baba na for my vanette, what's the correct adjustment? bakit kaya hindi na kinakaya ng vanette ko yung 0.9 pa lang na menor?

There's not much beyond regular maintenance and a driving style change that can improve your fuel economy.

Have your aircon checked out, too, and leave it at the lowest comfortable setting when you can... our Vanette was a guzzler, too, and I think part of it was due to the fact that the AC was as cold as a freezer.

guys, thanks for the advice. i just had it tuned-up at finally, my vanette can run 8-9km/L...hindi nga lang naka-A/C coz sira.

I used to run the van 8-9km/L pag city-driving and A/C is off. But ngayong naka-on na ang A/C, naging 5km/L na. I just had its evaporator soldered coz merong tagas and recharged freon, yan na ngayon consumption nya. What could be wrong?

I have a vanette 94. Tumataas pa rin temp nya pag idle, esp. pag on yung A/C. I already have my condenser in front of the radiator transferred, pero wala parin. Any advise?? Pls help!!!

How many fans do you have? Later Vanettes have bigger double fans on the radiator, you could look around and swap in the assembly for yours.

But first, you'll need to flush and clean your cooling system and check your thermostat. Sounds like a stuck thermostat or a slow cooling fan. Had the same symptoms when I had a busted fan.

    Thanks Niky.

I have fan at each condenser. So, total of two.

Have your fans checked. Sometimes a fan may work, but it'll be turning too slow. And don't forget about the thermostat and flushing.

Can we reduce the fuel consumption of Nissan Vanette
