April 6th, 2006 10:28 PM #1is this realy needed?
if no , how long can i drive without the filter, before causing a bigger damage.

April 6th, 2006 10:39 PM #2hmmm...imho they put air filters in cars for a reason B)
in your case sir, the filter was clogged, so zero air is going in, hence no combustion; pag wala namang filter, dirt, bugs, excess moisture is bound to accumulate in the engine, interfering with its operation. i guess the air filter is something in between those extremes

think of your engine's intake as your nose pare. and think of your nose hair as your car's air filter. kapag wala kang buhok sa ilong, marumi ang hangin na papasok sa yo. hindi healthy yun deba? ngayon kapag makapal ang buhok mo sa ilong ok sya, nafifilter. pero kapag hindi ka nangulangot (naglinis ng ilong), hindi ka makakahinga diba? same as with your car.

sir mura lang ang air filter. bili ka na lang. better yet, you buy those washable K&N filters. medyo mahal pero malaki matitipid mo in the long run, ganda pa nang throttle response.

As for how long you can run it, try not to go for more than a day. Old school racers run without filters, just put stockings or fine mesh over the hole to keep debris out (fasten the stockings tightly, or they'll get sucked in). If you drive too long without a proper filter, you'll risk damaging your sensors.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

April 7th, 2006 07:55 AM #7time ata ang measurement, not mileage...pero pag buo pa ung filter, pwede pang linisin right? i've seen a couple of shops use a compressor to clean air filters...ewan ko lang kung effective ba

diba ang advise sa manual at sa casa every change oil dapat nagpapalit ng air filter? except for washable air filters which can be used over and over. kasi yung mga air filter na oem ay pang isahang gamit lang. alam ko nakakaapekto rin ito sa quality ng langis. kapag accumulated na ang dumi sa intake mechanism, posibleng marumihan na rin ang oil...tama ba?

ok narin siguro magpalit ng stock air filter every other oil change. pinapalinisan ko nalang ng hangin sa fuel station once in a while para matanggal mga alikabok.
