TOPIC. So after the 1000km PMS should we go for the synthetic already or should we stick in mineral until the 5000km PMS?

    Which vehicle?

Some vehicles already use full synthetic pag labas sa dealership. Some don't.

I waited for my 10K PMS before I shifted to full synthetic.

Its for my friends, its a Toyota Yaris. But this is more of a general question rather than for a specific model...

Conflicting kasi eh. Some people say stay mineral to create some wear and tear initially then sa 10,000km na mag synthetic.

bakit mag change oil na kaagad sa 1000 kms? personally kung afford naman niya fullsynt oil then yun na nag palagay niya...

actually for me it doesn't really matter kung mineral or synthetic ilagay as long as palitan niya regularly and tama ang viscosity/ratings na oil na ilalagay..

New engines and new car for that matter needs time and distance running for the piston rings and sleeve to set normally. Ang tawag nila dito ay break-in period. During the break in period, it needs some amount of wear from the said mechanical parts which can only be achieved if you are using mineral oil. Using synthetic oil from the very start will not help achieve the goal of break-in period due to superior anti-wear properties of synthetic oil.

    Hope the explanations helps.

personally mas maganda kung papayag ang casa to go for mineral at 1000 kms kahit until 5000 lang then shift to FS.

in my case daming arte ng casa that's why hindi natuloy balak ko (sana) to go for mineral based at least up to 5000 kms bago mga FS. kaya since FS na siya at 1000 direcho na ko para tuloy tuloy na.

I think sa Toyota pwede mineral pero sa Honda bawal since 10,000km interval nila strictly FS sila. Doon sa Hyundai naman choice ko was only semi-synth or FS. Mineral was never offered.
