August 11th, 2014 09:13 PM #1Short trip stop-and-go driving can cause a rapid buildup of normal deposits on plugs, especially if the engine has a lot of miles and there has been some oil leakage past the valve guide seals and rings. The cure here might be to switch to a one-step hotter spark plug.
I wonder how effective this is? Can anyone share on their experience. Before kc I didnt know na may sinusunod plg correct spark plug, then one time in a random shop I bought one and after installing it, sobrang lakas at gumanda ang hatak ng ssakyan ko. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to keep the box nor the spark plug. Now after reading the one on top, would this be the reason kng bakit gumanda ang performance ng ssakyan ko?

August 14th, 2014 07:50 PM #2search mo na lang sa net kung ano ang specific spark plug para sa engine mo. hindi ko pa nasusubukan yung hotter plugs kasi natatakot akong mag early detonate yung fuel kahit wala sa tamang stroke yung engine, ito yung tope na sinasabi. masama ito sa piston rings/cylinder walls.
yung colder plugs pa lang ang nasusubukan ko, ang problema, hard starting at hindi maganda yung burn ng spark plug.
iba pa din talaga ang specific spark plug para sa engine, best performance talaga.
ang pwede mong pag laruan yung spark plug gap, try mong wide o narrow gap. kung saan hiyang engine mo, yun ang sundin mo. may mga spark plug naman na pre-gap na from the factory (engine specific).

search mo paps sa internet yung "spark plug gap". medyo hindi kasi ako magaling mag explain. hahaha.
based on experience paps,
kapag wide ang gap ng "electrodes" sa isa't isa, maganda low end torque, kaso kapag nasobrahan sa gap, possible na mag misfire ka sa high revs kasi hindi na makaka sabay yung stock ignition system ng sasakyan. kaya kadalasan ng may ganitong spark plug gap yung mga 1000cc to 1300cc engine displacement na sasakyan.
advantage naman ng narrow gap o yung may mga 0.8mm gap and below, mas stable ang idling at walang misfire kapag high rev o kapag bumibirit.
dito mo na makikilala yung engine mo, kung saan ba siya hiyang. kung sa "wide" o "narrow" ang spark plug gap. assuming na engine specific na yung spark plug na nakakabit sayo. kumbaga, kung may mapipiga ka pang performance sa ininstall mong spark plugs.
yung mga readily available sa market na spark plugs ay 0.8mm at 1.1mm pre gap from the factory. some known brands kadalasan malalaman mo na lang na 1.1mm ang gap niya kapag may number 11 sa dulo ng part number nito.
sample nito yung sa toyota spark plugs: K16RU, 0.8mm ang gap; K16RU-11 naman ang may 1.1mm
same din sa NGK: BKR6E, 0.8mm; BKR6E-11 naman ang may 1.1mm.
hindi ko lang alam sa ibang brand kung ganun din.
pwede mo try mag wide ng gap from 1.1mm to 1.2mm to 1.3mm. tapos kung saan hiyang yung engine mo, yun na ang iretain mong setting. yung 0.8mm gap, sagad na yun para sa stock engine. kung mas manipis pa dun, baka mawawalan na ng spark. pwede lang mas manipis pa doon kung sobrang high compression na yung makina. (race engine).
correct me if im wrong na din sa mga tuners/racers natin dito.

August 14th, 2014 11:59 PM #5I guess you are right. I happened to take a pic of the spark plug box. So what I have is a 0.8 which gives me actually a better idling Salamat paps sa info sobrang naappreciate ko sana mkatulong din sa iba na newbies
