May 30th, 2013 08:47 PM #13Sirs, reviving thread. Kumusta na po yun alternators na nabili nyo? Any specific recommendation kung saan okay bumili ng reman or surplus alternator (aside from ace hardware)? Yun tipong garantisado ang binebenta. Need to change alternator na kasi (4d56 N/A).
Thanks in advance.

May 30th, 2013 10:37 PM #14surplus.. alternators have a very long service life..
but what do you mean by alternator failure? it does not generate electricity, or the (oil-contaminated) pulley is slipping?
but i am curious... san galing yung oil? and i thought the IC is water- and oil-proof. mebbe your alternator just needs a good cleaning and a new set of brushes..
and i do not think alternators figure significantly in engine heat scenarios..
and thermostats just make the engine reach optimum operating temperature, faster. an absent thermostat will not make the engine overheat. perhaps your heat problem can be traced to the radiator.

June 4th, 2013 11:24 PM #19Thanks sirs for the inputs. Napuntahan ko itong mardenrey. Quote for 110 amps alternator is 4k (d ko lang natanong kung kasama install). Anyways, may development with my problem sa vehicle. It turns out the alt is still functioning (13.5-14.something volts when engine is running). I guess the problem with the dash indicator lights might be a connection issue (will have it checked pa).
Considering the alt is still functioning, would it be better to upgrade pa rin (by the way, my current alt has been converted to an external voltage regulator)?

Varta used as replacement battery in German cars ... but they cost double that of Motolite ... not...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
