I currently own a toyota xa (Same engine as yaris/echo) VVTi 1.5liters. Nililinis ko yung makina the other day and di sinasadya, natapon yung isang bote ng armor all dun sa may crankshaft pulley. This caused the check engine light to come up. Tried to reset but it always comes up when my A/C is already running cold.
Mga sir, possible ba na dahil lang dun sa armor all na nabasa yung sensor kaya lagi ilaw ng CEL?
Salamat....

Check mo if may mga nabasa na sensor, like yung crank position sensor. Or better yet, bring it sa mga shops like Speedlab, Speedyfix to get the code.

ojie,
most of the sensors in under your engine bonnet are waterproof save the oxygen sensor where the part that is exposed to ambient air might get wet, but should dry quickly after warmup, the other sensor that is susceptible to water intrusion is the mass air flow sensor. other than that, the other sensors are weather tight unless the wiring to the sensor is tampered with and the insulation is damaged. you have mentioned the armor all spilled on to the pulley. wash the affected area for the slippery goo with dishwashing detergent and/or replace the accessory belt. some of the newer cars are sensitive to accessory belt slip specially the a/c compressor.try to do the obvious first

Mga Sir,
Napa scan ko na po and as it turned out to be error code P0443 ang lumabas sa hilot.hehe...
Sabi sa report evaporative emission control system sya. Yung purge control valve is not working...kaya pla pag binubuksan yung tanke ng gas, para syang masyadong pressurized..at lean yung takbo ng kotse..luckily, damaged lang yung connector kaya inayos lang ng mekaniko yung connector and wiring ayus na ule...
Thanks uli...
