may napapanood akong commercial dati, off-roading contest(local) tas lumubog yun 4x4 jeep nya, tas nag winch sya tas sabi kahit lubog yun makina at battery napapagana pa rin yun winch... outlast ata yun hehe. forgot na, coz its i think a year ago... ayaw mo outlast?
interstate maganda din, i think same price ng optima. meron akong nakikita sa cats
Hmmm... naalala ko yang commercial ni Mr. Bartolome himself. Well, that was before when he was supported by Outlast brand. Since most of the races nationwide are supported by Motolite/Ramcar Corp, I think the ads and sponsorship package was dropped.
Actually, kaya rin naman ng local brands ang winch and some added electrical stuffs, I only found Optima brand an option because of its added CCA. Which could really help in dire situations.
I've had three Optima batteries: a yellow-top that is used to backup the (original) Panasonic battery of my UZJ-100; and an orange-top (same as red-top, but reveresed polarity for Japanese vehicles) to power the supercharged engine and 12,000 lb winch of my FZJ-80, and a yellow-top to backup the orange top. I'm just moderately satisfied with it.
The orange top, and it's backup, a yellow top, are both dead after two years. Of course, both have experienced more power demands and engine heat than the other yellow top, but still, it died sooner than I expected.
The advantage of a sealed battery like Optima is that again, you can mount it in many positions as you want, and even if you shoot it it will remain alive, and will not explode even if old.
There is a competitor to the Optima in the USA, and it's called Odyssey. I'd be going for that instead the next time I need a sealed-type battery. It's about the same price: US$140 or so for the Red/orange top, while the yellow top is about $120 or so.
