Freeing the Alternator Load

Hello tsikoteers,

I am hungry for answers again... Anyway, I don't know if this is on the right forum pero here goes,.. Yung alternator ko po ay kumakain ng kuryente right? The greater the use of the alternator, the greater it will use the engines power...

I have questions... What are some aftermarket replacements can you actually replace to lessen the load of your alternator? For example, changing to led's...

alternator is the generator of electricity of your van...

ako, i prefer mine, 90AH(min--idle speed) 120AH(max--revving)--walang bitin sa kuryente lalo na sa full load (high beams, fogs, high wiper, audio, at power socket....)

kung palit ka since liteace sa yo, consider mo magkakasya sa makina mo with lesser modification sa bracket monting..but remember, 90AH lang max mo pwede ilagay, susunugin stock wiring mo if mahigit 90AH...

THe alternator is one one that generates electricity in your vehicle. This is used to charge the battery and to supply electrical power.

Ideally, the alternator should be able to supply electricity to all your electronics and engine. If not, you will drain the batttery and kill (damage due to deep discharge) it.

If you will heavily upgrade your audio (and or video) system, you might have to upgrade the altenator and battery.

The alternator's rated amperage is measured based on your car's stock electrical requirement based on the oem accesories it has. So if you retain everything and dont upgrade there is no reason to get a higher ampere alt or replace anything that has been in your car since it came out the manufacturing plant.

A good battery recommended by the manual will help your alternator from working harder than it should. While a a routine check and regular replacement of belt will prolong the power and life of your battery.

An alternator with a higher amperage will be harder to turn and the engine and belts will not be happy with this.

Anyway, since tataas ang idle ko if loaded ang alternator due to it's use... How can I lower the load of my alternator? Can I use LED's instead for the cabin light and tail light? What other aftermarket products being sold that would help?

Mas malakas na mag load sa makina ang aircon kaysa sa alternator. Unless of course super ang ginawang upgrade sa audio system and lights

LEDs are low power devices (needs lower currest than bulbs), last longer than bulbs, and sturdier than bulbs. One option is to change some of the bulbs to LED if there are plug-in replacements (no modifications needed).

leds are best dito: (i use leds din)

park-lights (refer to avatar--LED yan), if you can get double contact LED, good for the brake/tail-park light(eto ang hinahanap ko--i need 4 of these), cheek lights, interior lights, guage illumination (use white LED di mo magugustuhan ang colored LED for your guage)...

using LED on your reverse well, ok lang din, pero, WALA road illumination! well, they're bright to look at click here, visible talaga (sorry for the resolution)

and dont put LED on your signal lights, it the flasher relay will consider your lights BUSTED and will flash rapidly (no when you turn on the hazzard ha)

better kung makakuha ka nga ng 90AH alternator--wala ka nakaba nun..

though you can still use higher than 90AH as long as your overcurrent protection is intact (that is your fuse box) or else your wirings will be toasted.changing fuse size is also not a good idea without upgrading the wires as well.

kaya ako naging suki ng alternator shop ko sa quirino avenue, kasi sila nagsabi sa akin nun....tsaka suki na din ng dad ho..hehehe, swerte lang ako sa alternator, galing benz diesel kaya 90-120AH!

so far, mga 10 years ko na ginagamit yung surplus na alternator na yun..sulit na sulit....kaya lahat ng electrical probs ko na di ko madiagnose dun ko pinapagawa tried and tested...

so leds are a good idea. maganda pala palitan mga stock bulbs ko ng leds para at least may ma-offload sa alternator kahit konti.

removing those unnecessary amplifiers, x-overs, neons, tv monitors, wangwang, busina, basta lahat ng extra accessories na luho na....
