not battery or alternator daw, starter problem kaya?

Hi po mga katsikot!

Just want to seek your advice. My car is a 95 galant VR4 (not the AWD). Problem is there are times when i start the car, it just clicks and doesn't crank. I try it a couple more times and it still wont do it the trick. Then after i leave it for a couple of minutes, I try again and then it will crank and start up finally.

I brought this to a mechanic a week ago and have my battery and alternator checked. Sabi nila ok naman daw at walang palya parehas dahil may maganda ba ang kuryenteng dumadaloy (tama ba yung term ko?hehe).

Kaso later on I still experience the problem. So I'm wondering if it's my starter that's giving up on me.

And also may karga naman sya because the gauges all light up when i turn the key. Pati nga mga ilaw and all gumagana.

i read the "index of common car problems thread" here and it seems that the starter thing is one of the possible problems.

Hope you can shed some light before i bring it to a mechanic. It's my first car and i just got it 2 weeks ago, bought it second hand.

is this cold starting problem ? ( yung galing sa matagal na di nagamit, yung tipong tuwing umaga at nakapark magdamag?)

or

is this hot starting problem ( means yung pinatay makina kasi nagpa-gas lang, or may binili lang sa tindahan? or nag-withdraw lang sandali sa atm, pinatay makina tapos start na ulit? )\

I had this problem before. At times ayaw din mag start ng oto ko just a click from the starter. Nag pa check ako ng battery and alternator. Ok nmn daw ang battery and alternator. Nag pa check ako sa isang shop sbi starter problem and they offered na overhaul. Pero I went to Rey's, ang ginawa nila is naglagay ng relay sa starter. Ever since ok na sya. Sbi nila is mahina ang pasok ng kuryente kc luma na daw oto. They tried to bypass the starter directly sa battery para test and ok nman daw. Instead of re wiring dinagdagan nalang nila ng relay.

Ah nice. So pacheck ko muna ung starter and have it tested i guess. Any chance na ung solenoid ung problem?

If I remember sbi ng shop na nag offer ng overhaul is ung carbon o magnet ata is upod na. But after ko sa Rey's ok na. Hindi na sya nag playa kahit once. Check mo rin pla ung battery terminal mo bka maluwag lang din

High possibility of a starter problem lang

Palinis mo lang and they need replace the carbon kapag malipis na... that part alone will not go beyond 150 pesos to replace.

You may want to opt to replace or overhaul the solenoid as well para isang baklasan na lang. Usually labor for that starts at 400 depends kung saan ka nagpagawa

lagyan mo ng grounding kit maka tulong din yan..
or palagyan mo ng isa pang relay parang direct na sa battery supply ng starter ..
check mo ung ground ng battery mo...

I have the same issue. Hot starting. pag nag park ako saglit patay makina. mahihirapan nko i start. mag antay muna ako mga 5 minutes bago sya mag start ulit.walang redondo. mga 5 times na ngyayari. Possible starter issue din kaya? Thanks

posible rin kaya sa security alarm ko? madalas din kasi mangyari na nag aactivate yung alarm kahit wala ka nman ginagawa to activate it tapos di mo ma start. pero yun alam mo na may issue sa security kasi nag bblink yung mga ilaw. pero ito wala eh.

Hi ulet guys!

Update on the first 3 months after I replaced my carbon brushing and have the solenoid cleaned. A couple of days ago, bumalik nanaman yung sakit nya. Sinusumpong yung pag start ulet. most of the time ok naman, 1 click lang pero sometimes it takes a while.

So knowing i had the carbon and solenoid diagnosed already, i brought to an electrician with having a relay installed in mind. Syempre, hindi ko muna sinabi sa kanya to see if our opinions will match. Sinabi ko lang kung anong case at actions ang ginawa ko before.

And ganun nga ang sabi nya. It might need a relay naraw since the car is 19 yrs old. Sabi pa nga nya if the relay doesn't work its probably the solenoid na raw talaga.

So I'm thinking of giving the relay a shot since affordable naman sya. Thing is, first time ko magpapakabit ng relay sa buong buhay ko.hehehe But i've heard success stories here in the forum naman about it. What are the main things i should be wary about kung papakabit ako. Is it safe? Takot lang ako baka may masunog kung saan saan.hehe

My guess is battery terminal maluwag lang or madumi na ung contacts.. try mo linisin ng liha hanggang lumabas ung metal part or palit ka ng mas masikip ng clamp sa battery

Baka kay jemson sa banawe ko sya dalhin over the weekend.

dont waste your time. relay lang yan...as madali gawin ang relay...pag di umubra relay, tsaka ka na magpa-overhaul ng starter.

i certainly hope it's just the relay.
but if it isn't, then you still have the starter brushes and the solenoid to reckon with.
btw, solenoids are replaced. "cleaning" them (whatever that means, because solenoids are sealed units) just isn't cost-effective.

i had a problem just like yours in my lancer 2003. it was the solenoid.

New development guys! I found out that to get the car crank from click, i have to turn the key a little harder para sumagad pa ng konti, only then will it crank... although with a slight delay (around 2 secs).

It happened when i closed the engine para magpa gas sa petron. Then hindi na sha nagstart nanaman. Until i tried turning it harder.

Hmmm... whats ur take on this guys?
