barok,
there are different types of 4wd. the most common less expensive type is part time 4wd without central differential, then there are part time 4wd with central differential, then there is the AWD or all wheel drive, AWD with center differential lock. some of these are called "shift on the fly", meaning you do not need to stop or slow down to engage the remaining wheels that are not driving. if what you have is the one with manual locking hubs, that is definitely part time 4wd. if you still have good traction, stick with 2wd. use your 4wd only when necessary to save on fuel and tires. your owner's manual tells you when you need 4wd. usually on mud, snow, extremely slippery road conditions or when climbing steep grades or going over obstacles.

bro, pajero a/t user din ako. pwede mo engage ang 4wd ng pajero kahit tumatakbo. kahit nasa 80km/h ka pa nga pwede eh pero don't exceed 100km/h. it means, speed mo should be below 100km/h if you want to engage 4wd while running. yan ang specialty ng super select 4wd drive system ng pajero.
