June 29th, 2013 07:35 AM #1There are several discussions regarding Innova alternator matters so I thought of starting a new thread to address those issues.
Please view the pictures of the Denso alternator used in Innova at FB "Toyota Innova Owners Phils". Those picture can be helpful.
My alternator developed strange noises at about 100k km. All that was needed was bearing replacements (2 pcs) which cost me just P500 labor and about P200 for the parts. I can't recall if I changed brushes as well but they are very cheap. It has since run about 75k km more without any problem.
It's a 30-minute job so the labor is quite reasonable. The pulley doesn't seem to wear out easily either. It doesn't look like it's necessary to replace the whole unit.
I hope this answers some of the questions.
Cheers!

unless the rectifier assembly was damaged by overload or disconnecting the battery with the engine running, the most parts to wear are the carbon brushes and/or the bearings. the bearings prematurely wears out if the belt tension is too tight. other causes for alternator damage is oil leaking into it from the valve cover gasket.Last edited by jick.cejoco; June 29th, 2013 at 01:06 PM.
