let me piece it together, the write up seems to be jumbled up. you tried to reset the trip odometer by pushing the reset button and it is stuck to 00000 and it is not registering. if this is what you are trying to say, here is what you need to do.
try pressing the reset button and see if the relaxed protrusion of the button is higher than before you tried to reset by pushing on the button.
