Just guessing, the battery got drained during the five days you didnt use the van. Then the drained battery got damaged when crystals formed on the plates when left too long in a fully drained condition.
I think you can still claim the warranty from the battery dealer. Hopefully you still have the warranty card and receipt.

Generally no. They'll just use their battery tester to see the condition of the battery. Once they see it's dead or low voltage, they'll have it replaced, although you might have to wait a day or so (with a temporary battery) while they do their "checks" (usually charging the battery to see if it will still hold a decent charge).

October 21st, 2012 12:44 PM #7Sir, its POSSIBLE that the battery is a 'rebuilt'. if you charge a battery at 10A, all six cells should show equal activity of hydrogen bubbles. if one or two cells are less active than the other cells, baka rebuilt yan, considering that the battery is a couple of months old.
Important; never leave a battery in a discharged condition for too long.
PS., If a two month old battery could not be recharged, use a specially built battery charger that can charge up to 48v. Increase the voltage by 2v steps until you can read an ampere reading. The ampere reading is increased up to 10a. As the battery is gaining its charge, gradually reduce the voltage by 2v steps. When the battery is stabilized at 13.8v, let charging continue for 15-30 minutes. Hydrogen bubble activity should be the same for all 6 cells, otherwise, the less active cells will not retain their capacity.
During this procedure, always monitor the charging process which could be from 30 minutes up to an hour. Tnx.

October 22nd, 2012 07:05 PM #8is this battery a brand new factory unit? or is it a rebuilt unit by an independent rebuilder? if it's factory, then you are entitled to a brand new replacement.
have your car checked, too. see if there's a low battery drain even when off..

Agree here....
May recent changes ba sa electricals ng sasakyan mo, bro?
I am asking this, because some years ago, I experienced an abnormal drain on my one-month old battery. I added an accessory and it was draining 1A in idle mode. Apparently, there was a wrong connection....
