    Even if my handbrake is down ir not in use the handbrake light indicator in dashboard will appear from time to time. What could be the problem? Corolla 1997 1.6 gli here

    Check master cylinder brake fluid level

    The switch that detects if the handbrake is up (on) or down (off) is now defective... or worn out

    It is located near the base of the handbrake.

    Have it checked.

    On one of my diesel vehicles, there is a hose coming out from the alternator - pag tinanggal mo yun or may butas, iilaw ang hand brake indicator, baka meron din sa inyo

    Pinaka obvious na unang gawin is check the fluid level. Then go from there.

    That should be a worn-out park brake switch.
