At this day and age maintenance free batteries are the best choice. No more worries about adding distilled water. Plus, most mid end batteries have a sensor which tells you of the charge status of the battery.
One thing I don't like about low-maintenance batteries is that the distilled water tends to leak over time and could corrode/damage the car's paint.
a battery's life span is affected mainly by temperature (thus, the advent of thermal insulation blankets) and size (i.e.the bigger, the better) but both can last for 2 - 5 years (or more) depending on use and care. yes- even maintenance free batteries require some amount of care and attention.
and again, both are reliable given that each battery is properly taken care of. generally, 2smf or bigger batteries tend to be more reliable than the smaller ones in terms of cold cranking amps delivered to demanding engines.
Question: May effect ba sa battery kapag nakadirct connection sa + at - terminals yung amplifier?

my maintenance free batteries usually last more than 3 years, longer if your charging system has no problems. the main thing to remember is to check the water level once the warranty has expired. one of my batteries was almost on its 4th year when it started to die. the mechanic told me to change it ASAP. what i did was i removed the sticker (motolite 2sm tropicalized enduro, the cheapest one i guess) and checked the water level. i just filled it up and did a trickle charge. after that, it was good as new.
Grounding kits were popularized by the motorsport community. With or without it, your sound system will work.
In any case, you are only supposed to tap only into the battery's positive terminal when powering an amplifier. The negative [ground] wire of the amp is bolted onto the nearest convenient grounding structure you can find. On my Pajero, the amp was grounded via one of the luggage hook bolts. I've never seen a sound system that was directly grounded back to the battery.

Buhayin ko lang tong thread:
I have a second hand Kia Sedona 2004 model. I recently became aware that the battery installed is rated at 60AH when the manual specified that the battery should be 12v, 70AH.
I just installed a 9-inch monitorn on the ceiling so the kids can watch some movies and am planning on upgrading the sound system by installing an amplifier first. Better speakers would come in later. I'm also planning on installing brighter bulbs on the fog lamps.
Kaya bang hintaying ko na lang humina ang battery nito or should I replace it immediately?
I wanted to replace it since last month but my wife thinks that since there's no problem with the electricals yet, we should wait until the battery weakens.
What do you guys suggest?
^^your battery will die sooner than later. it would depend on you. kung ayaw mo ng hassle, much better to have it replaced now than to have it dead when you need to start it...
I've seen one. Sir *Islaw Palitaw* of ACP did it that way, I think.
