If this is the same as the voltage regulator, it's behind the alternator opposite side ng belts. A small stub that has two spring loaded carbon brushes. If the brushes or springs are worn out the battery light might flicker or turn on depending on the electronics of the car.

nope di po yun--yung somewhat overpriced na binebentang accessory na kinakabit in parallel to the battery terminals

a voltage stabilizer is simply a set of parallel capacitors connected in parallel with the battery. the higher the capacitance the better.

in a nutshell, the total capacitance of a parallel capacitor network is the summation of its values (e.g. 1000 uF in parallel with 200 uF and 100 uF will result to a total capacitance of 1300 uF).

another consideration is that you should never choose a voltage rating below 12V. Capacitors rated at 25V and above is safe enough for this purpose.

in terms of purpose, nakakatulong sya in a sense na pag nangailangan ng sudden burst of electricity ang kotse, kaya sya ibigay ng capacitor. the capacitor acts as a temporary storage of voltage that when the "load" (electornics of the car) suddenly needs more power, the extra power may be delivered by the capacitor.

you can compute for this with, but it would be rather irrelevant, unless you know the loading of your car.

if you are an avid audio fan, you may notice that there are suppliers that sell super capacitors that can carry at least 1F of capacitance (Farad) in contrast to the uF (microFarad) sold in electronic shops. those capacitors are really expensive and big.

A Farad is such a huge unit for capacitance. With the advances in technology, I cannot imagine how they are going to increase the plate areas to compensate for the permittivity of the dielectric material which is into the 10^-12.... (Advances in the material?,- maybe!)

Capacitors acting like big batteries have always been used before in high-powered communication equipments using transistor tubes before the advent of solid state transistors....

    Whew!

take a look at the capacitors at mickeys http://www.mickeysautosound.com/capacitor.html

honestly, the only hindrance for me to be able to create a customized vs is a waterproof/weatherproof casing. there are lots of casings out there in the market, but all of them are made up of brittle plastic, which i think won't last long inside an engine compartment.

if you can find one, let me know where.

the question is, useful nga ba ito? ive asked people and different mga opinions nila.

baka mga electronics guru dito have their own opinions. lets hear em hehehe

PS: ive already installed grounding kit and it improved the electricity naman.

DIY- car voltage stabilizer..paano
