My barkada bought a nissan cefiro 97, he has been using this for a month then suddenly the car is stalling. Like the car suddenly stops in the highway.

They had it checked in Nissan, seems like the key is not anymore the original one. (at least thatis what Nissan is advising, that is to buy a new key from them and have it reprogrammed)

Recently an electrical person checked it and advised that the ECU should be restarted then put in an original key (from Nissan) then car will work (even with the non orig key). Is this really going to resolve the problem?

What can you suggest guys, need your help. thanks alot.

what do you mean by restarting the ecu? if the engine has already started and running, a problem with the immobilizer will not cause stalling. you cannot however re-start the car after you shut it down.
