civic matic speedometer problem

mga bros, may naka experience na ba sa inyo nito... may speedometer goes up and down.. meaning pumupunta cya sa 80 then baba na naman sa 20... in other words erratic cya. my car is a 97 civic matic. i tried cleaning the speed sensor pero ganun pa rin.. erratic pa rin. any advises mga bros?
may ground ba ito? if meron, where is it located? tnx...

siyanga pala, hindi pa naman nag-iilaw ang check engine light ko... erratic lang talaga ang needle, kahit naka idle lang ako. minsan naman, bumabasa ng tama tapos balik na ulit sa pagiging erratic.

check the socket baka maluwag lang or baka grounded.

kahit erratic di mag-check engine. mag CE lang siya kapag matagal na di gumagana ang speedo while driving.

it's the speed sensor. had the same problem on my 96 accord A/T. over a two week period the speedometer was erratic. it was normal most of the time, but sometimes it's not working at all or the needle goes up & down. later on the D indicator light in the instrument cluster began blinking when driving. replaced the speed sensor & no more problem. it's 3.2k at carpower, taft ave., pasay tel. 8318558, 8317583 or you can try partstar a few doors away. this is my first speed sensor replacement since brand new.

I have the same problem with my 97 civic vti matic....it's the speed sensor ....It looks something like a rod with gears at the end with an electronic socket....a surplus will fetch you around three thousand plus...I think the brand new will go 7 to 8k....hope this helps

The speed sensor I bought from carpower for 3.2k is honda & brand new.

na-experience ko din yan sa ESI ko, ang ginawa ng mechanic ko eh nagpalit ng fuel filter & fuel line valve (corroded na yun dati).

replace the speed sensor but check din if the socket needs to be replaced too.
