Does anyone know any suppliers that specializes on brand new alternators at decent prices?

I've replaced my IC regulator around 3 times already and the guy at Rey's Electrical is recommending na palitan na yung buong alternator. The recent IC regulator (I bought from them which they took out from a recon) got busted only a after a few uses, kaso di na ako makaclaim ng warranty because bihira lang gamitin yung sasakyan and almost a year na lumipas.

Problem ko is umiilaw nanaman yung battery indicator light, although ok naman yung karga, kaso they are saying its only a matter of time na hindi na magcharge ng tama. I am suspecting na baka diode lang (which I also replaced before and had a similar symptom), kaso may risk daw na baka di na kumarga pag binaba ulit and then I'd definitely need to buy a whole new one agad.

The vehicle is an Opel, although I understand that other European brands use the same alternator (maybe different pulley lang).

Gusto ko muna tumingin kung may mahahanap akong brand new na maganda naman price before I move on to surplus/recon.

    Thank you!

i just saw an ad in ayosdito, for an opel vectra alternator. 3500 kesos.
    dated august.
knowing that opels are as rare as hens' teeth here, it might still be there..

i also know that if the wrong IC is installed, it doesn't last long..

perhaps you should consult another alternator man... yock's, perhaps?

Read about Rey Villa Auto Electrical Shop on this thread while looking for a repair shop for our Hyundai i10 alternator. Went to their branch on 15th Ave., Cubao and they were able to repair the diode for P1,300. Hoping it lasts.

Sir, what specific component did they repair? I'm planning to have my alternator repaired at Rey's Marikina branch. No budget pa for a bnew one. What's your take on reconditioned alts? Is it better than getting one from a surplus shop? TIA newbie here

Need help mga sirs, meron akong civic 2012 and bigla ako tinirik sa gitna. And pag iniignite ko yung starter niya, ayaw magkick in sa engine.

I have an 07' Altis with its original alternator making a grinding/whining sound. I suspect the bearings are shot. In terms of fixing it, what can I expect? Can it be repaired or should I just ask for bearing replacement? What about possible damage as a whole? First time encounter with Alternator problems, would really appreciate some help.

If it is indeed just the bearing, then just replace the bearing.

I normally would just get a refurbished one for my Old Faithful. But not today as i an on an errand.... So next Saturday....

Pag 12.5-13.4v * full load on accesories ng alternator, pwede ba ma repair ito para maging 14v stable * full load!

Not an expert, but baka masunog ka nyan? If you need additional power, you may want to add a second battery.

An example: Dual battery systems explained

normal voltage is 12 V as long as yung mga nakakabit sa circuit mo ay 12 volts naman lahat, dapat ok lang.

at a constant 14 volts, i would expect the battery electrolytes to dry up pretty fast. as in, within a week.

So true with cars of the '70's and earlier. Today's cars the voltage regulation is done by the PCM using pulse width modulation with inputs from the TPS, battery temp sensor, electrical load sensor and maybe other sensors. The Toyota Prius don't even have a belt driven alternator.

Older old cars used electro-mechanical voltage regulator which were generic or not precise. You had to tailor or tune the voltage regulator to the car's alternator, expected electrical load and battery size. In most cases, it also varies with the knowledge and skill level of the mechanic or technician. The14 volt in question is too low of a system voltage for the modern car.
