You jumped a couple of hoops. Check your:
    A. Alternator belt
    B. Check your fuses
    C. Check your battery if it still could hold the charge
    D. Check for something that might be draining the battery in excess of 40mA.
    E. With the engine running, check the alternator pulley for magnetism with a an object that sticks to magnets(be careful parts might get thrown by the centrifugal force of the rotating pulley)

errr... how's "E", po? i fail to see the logic.
how would a rubber object have magnetism? and even if it does, "so what??"

    Who said anything about rubber?
The pulley is made of steel that is attached to the shaft of the field coil which be comes an electromagnet as a rotating magnetic field to induce voltage to the stator. Magnets attracts steel. If the pulley doesn't get magnetized with the alternator running, the exciter circuit( the field coil) is not getting input voltage to magnetize the field so there will not be output from the stator. Feel free to ask more questions.
