They wouldn't touch that car with a 10-ft pole.

I was so embarrassed to be seen it it especially back in 1972 when it stalled one night at the only open toll booth of the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge and held up traffic for about an hour. The tow truck towed it with us still in it to Treasure Island which was still a navy base back then....... I did my best to sink as low as possible in the back seat so I won't be seen.

To be fair..... Earlier that year, my Dad's Dodge Dart stalled right in front of the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. He had to run inside and grab a bucket of water, fill up the radiator and wait for teh engine to start again. All the while, we had cars honking at us. At least, the Dodge had more room to hide in than that Pinto.

That's my Pop next to my blue Laser in the sig. I'm so proud of him even though he sucked with cars. None of my uncles ever had his bad luck.....

I think that its just fine that foreigners are shipping our classic cars from here kasi in the first place, if it was a muscle car, it is originally from the US rin naman e besides tama yung iba, some of the people here hindi rin naman marunong magalaga ng classic cars plus if they paid for it, why not diba? tayo rin naman kumukuha ng mga kotse from other countries and de naman sila nagrereklamo about it

Since you guys posted retro cocnepts...
here's one from a few years ago... the Ford Forty-nine concept (from 2001).

it was inspired by a '49 Ford 2-door

    nice car.

I prefer the Magnum or Charger for appearance's sake. Pero, OK na rin ang 300C.

and for some reason, I like these odd-shaped american concepts:

parang pang-Elvis presley na classic car turned 21st centure

    parang classic doom buggy

maybe it'll make the Japs wanna resume their copycat ways hehehe

Just like any resource we have, IMO the foreigners have a right to take these beauties away from us if they pay correctly for em. It's just a little sad to me that we can't keep them here, whether it be for lack of finances or just plain apathy.

Kinda like the good people migrating to other countries... we either can't afford to support them here (lower and middle-class) or assure their security (upper-class)...

We lost our '69 Mach1 to Japan... I've also seen large numbers of my friends & family migrate...

    So yeah, it's kinda sad...

nice pics guys...classic looks seem to be making a comeback as we see in retro designs...would be even nicer to see more on the road...adds a bit of character don't you think? kaysa mga "cookie cutter" designs? parang pare-pareho mga everyday rides nowadays ba? kaya more and more are into personalizing...pero then again...kahit pag personalize pare-pareho ba?

Flagg, well said. Couldn't agree with you more. That's why I salute those among us, given limited resources, finances, parts, etc., who preserve the classics in their own little way if only for future generation to enjoy. Mustangs, Cudas, Trans-ams, Chargers, Camaros are very much sought after in the USA, Europe, and Australia and these guys just can't enough of them. Luckily for them but unluckily for us, we've got a lot of these desirable classic muscle cars and guys like woodfire, turbo, midinite, etc. are at the forefront in trying to keep these treasures within our shores. I say keep your classics or at the very least, sell to a fellow local enthusiast. Let's do our bit in keeping the hobby alive.....sharing tech expertise, parts sources, and keeping prices reasonable.

personally I think okay lang... as long as these cars find good "homes" abroad.

merun ngang nagnenegosyo ng ganyan dito sa Angeles, Pampanga. All metal works are done here (Hensonville Subd, Angeles)... even the conversion to right hand drive... then they load it sa container van (primered lang) for shipment to Australia.

madami naman mga mahilig sa US muscle cars dito sa pinas.. maybe that camaro ss just wasnt good enough for the local guys. kaya na export. or could be it was sold for a higher price.

a lot of these restored vintage/classic cars locally, you dont really get to see them. madami nga na sa garahe lang at gathering dust. kasi many of these collectors have plenty of other cars din.

on the same note, madami na din mga importations of vintage/classic sports car back into the philippines. so pareho lang yan. no need to be sad.

imho, ok lang. in true senti fashion, true car enthusiasts would be happy to know that they're passing their car to fellow enthusiasts who have the time and resources to take care of their precious rides. much better than to see them abandoned, slowly wasting away -- mas mabuti pa ata kung pinatimbang mo na lang B)
