im biased, but a good car to start for a newbie car collector/restorer would be a classic vw beetle. the unit itself is easy to find and cheap, parts are still easy to find kahit medyo nababawasan na, the car itself is very simple and easy to fix, it just keeps running no matter what...

Sir, meron akong certain level of affinity for VW Beetles. Tingin ko hindi ganon kahirap i-restore yung interior, very "simple and straight."

My imagination has gone as far as thinking na i-engine swap. Would you know a good engine replacement?

In general, dream ko talaga makapag-restore din ng car even something from the 90s.

Actually, I'm eyeing a 1992 Nissan Sentra ECCS. Bargain price, I believe. But of course, maraming ipapagawa.

I'm imagining the feeling of finishing a project car (restoring a bulok car to its OEM appearance)...

If say magically, the civic that you bought in 1993 disappeared and appeared now in your garage all brand new internals and exteriors.

Then you take out for a spin, im sure you will get head turners coz a brand new civic ESI all original in 21st century manila traffic. That's a classic!

We dont need to restore classic german or american cars for purposes that is a classic. Wala naman kinalaman yan mgs cars ba yan sa history natin.

I have long since followed Counting Cars and Americans dont restore Jap cars puro old Ford and Chevy. Because those cars identify them, their roots et .

Dapat in this part of the world, we restore cars that are unique to us, that gave us identity, that helped us in that part of our history. Like for example, the Feroza, the civic, the pajero, the crv and the starex.

The starex alone is so worth to restore coz most kids right now grew up in that as it was the cheapest school bus back then.

So yun, restore old phases out cars that was sold here before, that will surely have more value for us as a Filipino than those hemis or v8 americans or europeans.

That is my philosophy.

please do not forget the toyota corolla, specifically the "big body". though i would not consider the big body as a keeper, i believe it is a classic with great value for us filipinos... timeless...

Same! I grew up with a Toyota Corolla Big Body. I thought I was going to drive it when I get my license but my dad replaced it with a vios. Sayang! Loved that car pa naman kahit na may times na tinirik kami nun

i think the vios drives better than the old corolla big body.
so i think it's not too sayang.

i even prefer the vios to the altis... it just feels so much lighter than the altis, even though the ride quality of the altis is better

P.S. im comparing the 2008 vios and my 2003 altis

errr... the americans manufactured cars. they own the marquee. they are proud of it.
restore cars that are unique to us? we... merely assembled or imported them. and there's a very much lot more, where they came from. we can't really identify with them, because they aren't... us.
my opinion.

but i agree. it is nice to restore a car that brings back nice memories of family, childhood, and growing up, etc etc.

btw... a 1993 esi? it looks like a bar of soap. after having been used for some time.
a corolla small body has nicer lines, in my opinion.

In the U.S. It's easy to get replacement parts you need for a restoration. If they need to fabricate, they have the tools for it. Here it's harder to source parts and even harder to fabricate them.

it would also be nice to restore a less popular car, something that would be eye-catching. something that not everybody knows... unlike a honda or toyota, every day! every single day you see at least 30

its been a long time since ive seen a mazda 323 familia, the "rayban" one... i see the older version from time to time but its been years since i last saw a rayban in real life... might be one of the better cars to restore

meron din ako nakita right now in olx na mazda 323 buy 1 take 1... pinagiisipan ko... problema kasi dalawa eh wala nako space for 2 cars hehehe atleast baka pwede ko benta yung isa so i would have funds to restore the other one!

Magkamukha ang Galant saka Mazda 626, parang magkapatid

Ang gawin mo sa Mazda 323, make sure two colors say black and white. Tapos pag pagpunta mo sa work black dalhin mo, pag-uwi mo white naman, pagpasok mo next day white, then pag-uwi mo black naman.

Sigurado madami magtatanong ng kapitbahay mo
