300km version so no battery cooling. i guess it's fine if you don't park it under the sun the whole day while you work

4 airbags i.e. 2 front, 2 curtains. no side seat airbags. non-totl hondas usually have 4 airbags also but 2 front, 2 side (no curtains)

rear seat not split fold. could be a deal breaker for some

in-screen a/c controls. very annoying to use

has V2L vehicle to load, so the car is one big powerbank

The BYD Seagull just got launched with an introductory price of ₱898,000. Powertrain generates 74hp and 135Nm of torque and has a claimed range of 300km. It has disc brakes front and back with regenerative braking (a la KERS). As expected, it is one of the class leaders at this price point for technology and ADAS (not a lot but still decent).

Bumper-to-bumper warranty is six years or 150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first). Battery and motor warranties are separate, at 8 years or 150,000 km.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the car comes with a wall box and portable charger (at no additional cost).

Dapat SOP ito sa EVs since kailangan siya. Weird naman kung separate accessory package siya na hindi kasama sa SRP?

i want one! state owned ba ang BYD?

vinfast vf3 has too many compromises. seagull is just 200k more and is already a fully functional car i.e. could replace your gasoline car for most trips except offroading and super long-distances

Some people actually believe that there's such a thing as a "private" company in China ... In China, CCP owns EVERYTHING ... that's what communism is ...

    Where's Jack Ma now? ...

china is a communist state... when it suits them, i.e., when hard decisions have to be made.
otherwise, they're deng xiao ping's disciple: "let's get rich!"
    heh heh.
    my opinion.

If it's any consolation, warren buffet was a big investor early on only to divest heavily in the recent past.

Buffet says it's because of the geopolitics between the us and china but biz watchers opine it's more probably because BYD is now heavily subsidized by the ccp. I guess the American financial whiz felt that he was slowly losing say on the company policies as the years went by.

I think it's the other way around.... CH is a communist state at the core, but they are a practicing capitalist for the money.

Talked to an SA from BYD and was told it had Battery Cooling.
Hopefully the Manuals will confirm this.

Wiki on the Seagull says it has LFP chemistry lithium battery. This should alleviate fears of battery fires.

just test drove the seagull. bigger than i expected there it is next to my city hatchback. but cabin feels noticeably narrower than the honda. it's a very short car but the wheels are pushed all the way to the corners so the wheelbase is a respectable 2500mm, similar to jazz, ecosport, etc (city hatch is 2600mm). boot space is really limited

the in-screen a/c controls are stupid AF

acceleration from standstill is very good, better than nissan kicks

perfectly acceptable as a city car. but not viable for tarlac-to-manila round trips

oh one more thing. the test drive unit was parked outside but it wasn't a super hot day (cloudy). the seagull's a/c took forever to start cooling
