Available in two trim levels, 'Lux' and 'Exclusive', Benni epitomises the Chinese automobile philosophy of comprehensive specification levels and low market entry price.
Comprehensively equipped
The 'Lux' offers air conditioning, colour coded bumpers and side mirrors, integrated fog lamps, remote central locking and radio/MP3 interface. The 'Exclusive' adds electric front and rear windows, driver airbag, ABS braking with EBD, power steering, radio/CD, alloy wheels, remote central locking and a rear window wash and wiper unit with demister.
Both models are powered by a 1.3-litre engine producing 63kW of power and 110 Nm of torque between 3 500 - 4 500r/min, driving through a five-speed manual transmission top speed is 158km/h.
No just a box
Styled in Italy, the Benni does not look too ungainly or reminiscent of European designs, something Chinese manufacturers have been acutely keen to do lately. Measuring a touch more than 3.5-metres in length, yet sporting a 1.55-metre roofline, Benni offers driver and passengers enough room.
Benni will be available through the countywide Chana network from mid-March 2008.
# The 'Lux' and 'Exclusive' Benni will retail at R74 900 and R84 900 respectively
