-netcarshowChevrolet Europe will present the Kalos' successor at the Frankfurt Motor Show (13 to 23 September 2007). The most significant features of this completely reworked model are its striking exterior, its high-class interior and a new, even more efficient petrol engine. Like its notchback stable mate, the new hatchback model will now bear the Aveo name throughout Europe. The five-door hatchback model will be first to hit European showrooms (in March 2008), followed by the three-door model a few weeks later. Like all Chevrolets, the new Aveo will stand out for its excellent value for money.
The Aveo hatchback sports Chevrolet's new design features, as characterised by the big horizontally split radiator grille with a body-coloured crossbeam and the brand logo sitting prominently in the center. The dynamic detailing includes large, curved clear-glass headlamps and fog lamps that project like spotlights from the lower part of the bumper. The bonnet follows the lines of the radiator grille. Eye-catching contours, which flow from the bonnet to the A-pillar, highlight the sporty look.
Additional indicators in the side sections in front of the exterior mirrors enhance safety. In profile, the body's prominent shoulder lines catch the eye, as does their dynamic beading that sweeps from the front to the rear door. The back of the car is dominated by the solid bumper and the round tail lamps in a clear-glass housing.
The modern and high-quality instrument panel is divided into four chrome-trimmed controls and a centre console with striking air vents, a fully integrated audio unit, and large, user-friendly air-conditioning dials. The smooth plastic surfaces and the soft-touch finish of both the instrument panel and the upper half of the door panel are pleasant to the touch.
The new Aveo has grown slightly and is four centimetres longer than its predecessor. Its vital statistics are:
Aveo hatchback
Length (metres): 3.92
Width (metres): 1.68
Height (metres): 1.51
Wheelbase (metres): 2.48
Boot volume (litres): 220 - 980
The Aveo offers a choice of two petrol engines: a new 1.2-litre unit with two overhead camshafts and an output of 84 hp, and the existing 1.4-litre engine, which now develops 98 hp and is available with automatic transmission.
Both engines are even more frugal than their predecessors when it comes to fuel consumption. Despite the fact that its performance has improved by 12 hp, for example, the basic engine will now consume roughly 6 per cent less fuel in the MVEG fuel efficiency comparison.
*In Europe the current Aveo hatchback is known as the Chevrolet Kalos, the 2008 model will now cary the "Aveo" name.
WOW very nice. DOHC pa. Nice exterior/interior. Parang Spark yung likod. Pero diba kakalabas lang ng Aveo na sedan dito? Will it be released here also or in Europe only?
I don't like the front grill. Parang masyadong papansin eh! And I absolutely hate dashboard integrated HUs!! It takes away the option of the owner to upgrade! In general, ok naman sya...
parang nalaglag yung chevy ribbon sa front grill..hindi ko napansin agad! i dont like to exterior too much parang overstyled or something, ok yung interior for me!
A collection of design cliches? Audi grille, BMW headlamps, etc. hehehe. It's not a bad car.

Hey, if they bring it here at a price point near or lower than the Hyundai Getz, I'll bet it'll sell. I'll get one to replace my company daily driver.![]()
Its exterior makes it look more like a China car than a Chevy
Yes,are the right words....collection of design cliches...
I prefer the current Aveo's tail lights here compared to that.
Whether it be cheaper or not doesnt matter, if the fuel consumption of that small engine is similar to what the current engine is giving, it will sell only to those who are unaware or who never expected that such small of an engine could consume so much.
nice car
but have they made significant strides w/ its engine? i remember when we were in the market for a subcompact 2 years ago, its powerplant was no match for the jazz's and the vios' ( the getz and the picanto were still a month or two away from its introduction then)
According to GM, there's an improvement in power and economy...

*MVEG stands for "Motor Vehicle Emissions Group"
In a way, they were sort of rebadged, technically both of them were developed to be Daewoos since this happened before Daewoo Motors became part of GM.
Platform development was done in the UK by their Worthing Technical Centre, styling in Italy(Pininfarina & Giugiaro), engines were GM derived units(some made by GM Holden) and the things in-between were done in Korea.
The latest updates were done under the new company GM Daewoo Auto & Technology(or GMDAT). Of course they can't make major engineering changes since this is just an update of an existing model.
The next gen Aveo wll be built on the GM Gamma platform, while the next gen Optra/lacetti will be built on the GM Delta platform.
The new Chevy Captiva and its sister model, the Opel Antara use the GM Theta platform, the Captiva is the 1st GMDAT model to be integrated into GM's global platforms.
GM's Domestic Korean brand is Daewoo, so even new GM developed models are rebadged as Daewoos in Korea, like the Holden Statesman and the Saturn Sky roadster.

I like the new design. Good looking wheels. I don't know but it looks like the mask of RED Ranger of some super sentai series like Bioman, Power Rangers.
nice looking... except for the emblem position. dapat dun nalang sya sa upper black mesh nakalagay. then sa lower part yung plates. nice new interior from the Aveo sedan, way better than the Lego-like interior of yesteryear's Aveo hatch....but still, this is a yesteryear's Aveo...
