    frikkin copycats... :furious:

kaso... yung engine sa rav4 copycat nila... whether 2.0L or 2.4L ay 127 hp lang. sa torque talo din, 2.4L ang kailangan nila to match the torque output of the real-deal rav4. :bleh:

    0-100kph in 15s & 14.5s for their 2.0L and 2.4L variants respectively. losers!

we laugh or taunt the Chinese copycats right now...

the Korean cars were also derided before as low quality copies of Jap and US cars

look at them now - Kia and Hyundai...

5 years from now, the Chinese cars will finally get the formula right and with their pricing, the American, Japanese, Korean carmakers will have reason to quake in their boots...

as to the indigenous Filipino car industry, where are we right now?

not even a single copycat of the old Toyota Starlet

Pati PGA balak kunin ang Chery?Hehehe alam nila kasi eto ang next Hyundai or Kia ng China.... Very promising at interesting ang lineup nila..About sa quality eh parang talagang mga Daewoo at Kia's nung early 90's ang quality ng materials nito so not that bad i guess..

We're not thrashing it just because it's a "chinese copycat". We're skeptical because it's a chinese copy of a korean car... one made by one of the worst of the Korean automakers (so bad that it went belly-up years ago while the others thrived and grew)... it was a cute car back then, but it was never a class leader at anything.

We're harsh on it simply because, from appearances and feedback on build quality from here and from China... it doesn't really offer much at the price it's being sold at here that seems worth that price.

I know crash safety isn't of paramount importance to cheap car buyers, but, seriously... this is 335-400k pesos we're talking about. An amount that'll get you a secondhand five-star car or brand-new three-star car from another manufacturer.

Now, if it were about 250-295k, it would possibly be worth it. But when you ask at a certain price... that price brings certain expectations. That's all.

That's why I think it's utterly ridiculous for Toyota or Nissan to charge a whole lot of enchiladas for the Patrol and Prado (And lord, almighty... the old Ford Explorer? that much money for leaf-springs?!?). Why an 800k Vios is a stretch of the imagination... or 2.6 million for the Honda Pilot laughable... At its original asking price, the Kia Rio was something good... but with the Vios now cutting into that price, it begins to seem a bit expensive... and the Chevy Spark? I'm still flabbergasted that GM has the gall to price it at 500k pesos... an obscene amount of money for a slightly better Chery QQ.

Taken in isolation... any vehicle can be seen as having merit. Heck, I'm eyeing a micro-owner-type myself. That thing has no power, no suspension sophistication, and is about as safe as a stainless steel bath-tub on casters... but it costs under 100k brand-new (so to speak, being based on a secondhand Suzuki SuperCarry), so my expectations aren't that high.

But if you're asking for a big sum of money for said vehicle, you'd better have a lot of things to show the buyer to convince him to part with said cash. Especially considering the fact that some of those buyers are buying this as a first car, and this will be the biggest financial transaction of their lives (sans house and lot purchasing...).

smooth is right... but niky is absolutely right as well.

like i keep on saying like a broken record, at 350k the QQ is a pretty brain-damaged deal, ABS and airbags notwithstanding.

if it were 200k i would say it was a fantastic deal. since it's less than that in China, i would think 200k for it here would not be impossible, but apparently Iseway thinks otherwise. perhaps sometime they'll see things "our" way...

I hope their car will sell. But the Tiggo SUV kinda looks like the 2nd Gen Rav4 and the QQ Compact Car looks like the Daewoo Matiz.

Chery was sued by GM Daewoo for copying that company's Chevrolet Spark (a.k.a. Daewoo Matiz). Chery claims that they licensed the vehicle design prior to General Motors purchase of Daewoo. Chery was able to scout a number of key engineers from South Korea's Daewoo motor during its bankruptcy proceeding in 2001-2002, who took a complete set of plans with them and went on to create Daewoo vehicles at Chery.[/SIZE]

hi! this is my first post. Since you explained the background of the QQ, how did you guys came out with the Tiggo? hawig na hawig sa RAV-4 eh. Don't tell me napirate nila ang mga designers ng Gen 2 RAV-4? How about the Cowin. The people said here that it is actually a spanish car so called Seat Toledo that was sold in the early 90's, how about that?

one more thing, yung Eastar niyo, di ba Daewoo din yun? I just forgot the name of the car, basta alam ko Daewoo yun. Hala, ang dami niyo pala pinag kopyahan! I saw your showroom katabi pala ng Intelectual Property Office.
