If it comes in over 300k (probably 350k), it would probably give the Alto a run for its money... depending on the actual quality of the car.
The Alto would still have the advantage of solid construction and a stable, proven engine (their 3-cylinder has been in production for a heck of a long time), albeit with modern touches. The Chery might just be a touch cheaper, dependent on what trim levels are brought in.
That'd be some car comparison to see.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

quote at the chery website:
Chery Tiggo.
Engine
Tiggo comes standard with a spirited 4-cylinder MIVEC engine and choice of two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
At lower speeds (less than 3,500 rpm), the MIVEC engine intelligently adjusts itself to offer crisp throttle response to accelerate you through the intricacies of city driving. As engine speed increases, MIVEC takes on its sportier side and spreads the power delivery throughout the rest of the RPM range by allowing more air into the combustion chambers.
Safety
In applying our philosophy of Safety For Everyone, Chery Engineers have equipped every Tiggo with double SRS front airbags and side impact door beams for four doors. To guarantee a smooth braking, every Tiggo comes with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). As you put your confidence in Tiggo, we put your safety in our heart.
Luxury and Comfort
Every Tiggo offers an amenity-rich environment. Relax your self in a 6-way (or 4-way) adjustable seats and enjoy our sweet sounding audio set up which is equipped with a 6-disc in-dash CD changers and four speakers. If this is not enough, check this Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) navigation system which is available in Tiggo Flagship Model. GPS features a touch-screen LCD display that also provides control functions for the standard audio system, climate control systems and trip computer. The navigation system provides turn-by-turn guidance by voice and on-screen prompts. After a stressful long haul, you definitely want more space and sunlight, then, stow away your rear seats and open your inbuilt double-deck sunroof!

Is this the grandis MIVEC or the lancer MIVEC? It's really weird having a toyota copycat with a mitsubishi engine. Best of both worlds? i wonder.

What's more, it even beats the perks and ammenities that some of the current SUVs and Crossovers present at the moment. If the specs at the chery website are true (the site itself needs refinement).
As for my observation, if you want to be competative, you'd risk lowering prices. Lower prices, higher demands? Heck I'd even suggest that the use of toyota vehicles as a primary taxi fleet be stopped (Vios and Altis). I'd even had the trouble of thinking over buying those two cars over the last 2 years when i first catch glimpses of taxi versions of both (Makati and Pasay).
I hope i'd be one of those people to catch glimpses of these vehicles soon. It won't matter wether chinese merchandize are cheap or what not, its all market strategies of the world.
Safety issues concerned? I'd rather go for a bnew covered with insurance than a 2nd hand that's more than 10 years. If the owner is an aggressive driver, then safety IS an issue. I'd even be more happier that the average juan dela cruz can/may afford a car.
I have nothing against MC riders but if only Juan had the oppurtunity to buy a car then I'd say there will be less death, injuries and quarrels. There are a handful of MC Riders who are not LTO registered. Even kids underaged can ride without even asking the permission of their parents. Unregulated, cutting cars during quick stops.
I'd say the arrival of such is more of a blessing in disguise. For both (the regular Juan and Us who enjoy and take pride in our rides, old and new).
But then again, this is my opinion, and mine alone. a suggestion that hopefully some may contemplate.
At least, the average Juan will be more happier to accept this.

June 11th, 2007 01:23 PM #150Cited as the "next Toyota" by one of chery's web site.
upcoming models are; QQ6, B11 & Retractable convertible sports car.
Sana maglabas din sila ng auv model tapos ang price tag is around
400 to 500k!. o kaya van or pick up.
Still a good buy if comfort and timeless looks matter to you. The monocoque chassis rides smoother...
2017 Pajero BK, still a good buy?
