I can't answer for everyone but lately sino lang ba kasi aggressive kumuha ng territory?
It's not just spratlys for us, yung sa Scarborough shoal pasok pa sa 200nm EEZ natin. That's not even contentious dapat, that's downright vioation of sovereignty.
Para naman kasi may ginagawa ibang bansa na significant, aside from China, in the last 2 decades. All other countries maintained the status quo except for occasional skirmishes.

only china has constructed a homungous concrete structure on the disputed property.
only china has openly threatened us with ships with guns. they even rammed one of our fishermen's boats.
and according to some info, china even includes their "ownership" of the disputed area, in the content of their education system .
Garapal din naman US. Have they ever been held accountable for their prior colonialism? Vietnam war? Iraq "war on terror"? Proliferation of drug trade in central America?
In all of these examples - epal ang US. Kunwari tutulong pero end up sucking these countries dry and consolidating their position as global superpower.
Same with EU - reason they can have such idyllic lives now with short working hours and generous benefits is because they were able to enrich their nation's coffers for several centuries at the expense of other 3rd world countries.
For example, has the UK ever been made accountable for the never-ending border war they caused between India and Pakistan because they haphazardly divided the 2 countries after they were done sucking dry the south Asian subcontinent in 1947?
None of these imperialists have ever given proper reparations to their invaded colonies yet have the gall to call out China today.
Not defending China, they're truly a big bunch of bullies now who know they're too big to be stopped by anyone, but it's really pot calling kettle black when I see the US acting like a "good guy".

The claim that China is going to be the world's most powerful nation x years from now and that it would subsequently establish a new world order similar to Pax Americana is just another prediction that makes a lot of assumptions and leaves out a number of variables. First of all, China's growth prospect isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Its economic growth has been slowing down in the past decade and like US, it has massive debt problems. China is also facing a serious demographic crisis that is worse than Japan due to the one-child policy. To address this, China is shifting its manufacturing-based economy
to a service and consumption-driven one. Whether it can successfully achieve such transition remains to be seen.
Second, hegemonic status is not solely determined by economic might. Even if China overtakes US in economy, it still has a long way to go when it comes to political and military power.
US has a large and advanced military force positioned across key geographical locations for unprecedented power projection. It is also allied with some powerful nations not only in the West but also in Asia. Even India who is expected to become another superpower in the region is now getting closer to US. Compare that to China who is engaged in multiple territorial disputes, surrounded by hostile neighbors. Makes you wonder who truly is pursuing an isolationist policy.
Third, a lot of unexpected things can happen in the span of years or decades. Black swans and gray rhinos can significantly alter the course of geopolitical events. A good example is the current covid pandemic and its profound impact on the global economy - no one saw this coming.
This is the world economic thread after all, so when I was saying China will be #1, I was referring to economic status i.e. largest GDP. [emoji846]
But you're right that power in terms of military or geopolitical influence is more complicated to build. The US has far bigger military spending despite China having a larger army.

Agree on this one. For the last 50 or 60 years ano ba ginawa ng US at EU sa atin to deserve backlash vs what is happening with China.
Different naman situation. Like jut initially said, we should learn from our - and other countries - mistakes re aligning with a superior country without sacrificing sovereignty and identity.
Economically kahit hindi naman lapdog si PDuts ng China eh towards China na rin naman talaga ang business directions ng mga local companies. Tagal nang huawei ang supplier ng Globe and smart for example.

May options in life pa naman just like what India is doing. Dapat nga noon pa after winning the Hague, the Gov't should have beefed up the maritime patrol/claims at WPS.
Banks are starting to eliminate them.
Kung wala na options in life, I'd rather be raped by Americans than Chinks![]()
Hehe Uls bat ang hilig mo magquote ng sarili mong post para iemphasize na tama ka? Parang kagalingan vibes talaga 'no?
