exemption? Only if you r employed in a regional office of a multi-national corp...

BUT...there are legal expenses which u can deduct sa income mo which in effect eh pwedeng bumaba and net income mo...which in turn pwedeng bumaba din ang tax due mo. At hindi yan sasabihin ng BIR sa'yo, u hav to discover it....ako may nagturo lng sa akin na tax consultant from SGV.

ako almost 30% din yung bawas. According to our finance dept, dapat 32% yung bawas, pero since part of our salaries ay mga "rice subsidy, clothing allowance, etc" ang bumababa yung part na na-t-tax.

I wouldnt mind paying even 40% tax IF

    1. We have an effective and efficient Police Department-crimes are solved and the ones responsible are brought to swift, fair justice
    2. Our roads are wide, paved and free of potholes
    3. Our sewage system doesnt overflow at the slightest bit of rain
    4. We can feel safe walking home alone after a drunken night out
    5. Public transportation is efficient
    6. Public libraries and parks are actually places we'd like to spend time in
    7. The government actually makes good on its promises for reform
    8. Public schools are better equipped and have higher standards
    9. The government actually does something about massive overpopulation, poverty and other social problems instead of coddling these sources of votes come election time
    10. Pensions will actually be able to support us when we retire.

Chip, you must be dreaming. But, I wish these dreams would come true. Or, we migrate out to fulfill these dreams.

Chip, I suggest you go to Denmark. Tax starts at 42% for basic earners and goes up to 68% for high-income people. Hehehe...

I can hardly imagine kung waiter ka earning 1000 Euros a month, ang take home mo lang is 580 a month. Pero if housing and other big expenses like medical stuff is free, tapos ang utilities and transpo is subsidized, ok lang siguro.

and may mga cases na kahit malaki ng yung kaltas every month/payday, at the end of the year kulang pa din, as in negative pa....kaya walang katapusang kaltasan.

Sa Singapore o Hong Kong 20% below tax nila pero efficient ang collection kaya most of the time despite huge infrastructure outlays may surplus pa budget nila. Hindi rin mura ang sweldo ng taong gobyerno nila. Yung Prime Minister ng Singapore get at least 5 times more in basic salary than the US President.

hk's taxes are roughly about 16% for entry level and goes up till about 20% i think for the big earners, although in one big blow in the beginning of the year (jan. and you can pay part of it then and part of it in april. or pay the whole amount in jan.) and it's true that government workers also get a lot indeed, this includes the police, firemen, et al. minimizes corruption alright.

a single person is given a 100k hkd allowance, anything over is taxable. a married couple is given a 200k hkd allowance and having 1-2 kids is an additional 40k hkd each. 3-9 kids is around 40k each as well i believe. anything over again is taxable.

Ito nga raw taxation ang hindi maintindihan ni Einstein,- tayo pa?

Sa akin - 32% tax sa income plus
    12% x (100% - 32%) = 8.16% EVAT- tax of taxed money
Total of 40.16% tax - hindi pa kasama ang iba pang tax dito....

    Aray!

Speaking of taxes... I remember the time when I got my bonus intact in the middle of two pay periods... afterwhich though my entire salary for the next payday was wiped out to pay for the tax for my bonus. :whoa:
