    tips:

-install and update frequently an antivirus software
-use a software to lock your desktop access from possible vandals
-use licensed Windows for your computers (to avoid a visit from microsoft)
-don't display orginal licenses, just photocopy them. Keep the originals in a safe place
-when sharing HDD over network, use password access to control viruses, etc from getting around.
-optical mouse is good but might get stolen. Ordinary opto-mechnical mouse is cheap anyway, around P100 each only.
-Windows XP is the current standard but it seems Windows 98SE is still favored by most shops (like mine).
-AMDG will pester you one day to license your sierra & blizzard games. Best to talk to other lan shop owners in your area of business to see what they have done about it.

    hardware recommendations:
-CPU = AMD is favorite bec of lower price.
-MBoard = VIA based chipsets because of better online support for updates (for some people, bascially its a personal choice)
-Video = GForce videos cards. If you have the budget, get the titanium version.
-monitor = 17 inch (best bang for your buck)
    -RAM = 256megs
-HDD = 40 gigs or more
-CDROM = optional if you have the software to create a networked CDROM jukebox
-Floppy 1.44 = optional but recommened to have one per PC
-internet = DSL is best but depends on your market (avoid PLDT, very slow)

Well, you have to compute your monthly overhead like:
    -rent
    -salaries
    -electricity
    -phone bill
    -internet bill
-consumables (like paper, ink, paper forms, etc)

Assume those will total to around P80,000 per month.
Thats comes to around P2,666.00 per day.
And that equates to P177.77 per computer. (if you have 15 PCs)

If you have 20 PCs, that will come out to P133.30 per PC.

If you charge P20/hr, you will need 135 customer-hours per day, everyday just to meet your break-even point.

Assuming you are open 16 hours per day.
With 15 PCs, you have 240 customer-hours per day.
With 20 PCs, you have 320 customer-hours per day.
    (customer-hours = hours-per-day x number of PCs)

I normally suggest 20 computers for a start up computer rental business. The additional comsumption of electricity is minimal between 15 and 20 computers. But would also mean you can have 25% more income at peak time of use.

Maximum theoretical income with 15 PCs = P144,000/month
maximum theoretical income with 20 PCs = P192,000/month
    (theoretical income = P20/hr x number-of-PCs x hours-per-day x 30-days)

To get your projected income, assume you only earn 50% of theoretical income.
    15PCs = P72,000/month
    20PCs = P92,000/month

If you are pushing thru with 15 PCs, I strongly suggest you have other services like scanning, printing, photocopy, lamination cd-r burning, typesetting, etc. to increase your sales. Even with 20 PCs or more, its still a good idea to have other services than just games and internet.

    saan location ng netshop mo?
I have two locations: cubao and manila. I have two cubao shops close to each other but since an internet cafe beside mine is moving out, I am going to move my 2nd shop to be beside the first one so I can do with less employees to cut costs.

I used to have another branch at kalentong in mandaluyong but that closed na.

plan ko pa naman is putting w2kprof for my workstation for
better security..but anyway thanks for the info..
as for your security software, make sure its easy enough for your untrained employees to use if they need to.

I am using EASTERN DSL. Costs P5500/month with VAT (commercial rate). No idea yet on how fast Bayantel DSL is.

As for the moment, I have no billing software being used.
