February 14th, 2007 03:36 PM #11teka nalito ko konti. so CoE pala natapos mo? fresh grad? Kung oo, ok lang wala experience, madami dyan company naghahanap ng fresh grads to train, importante e may background ka ng konti sa programming (back in college).
Ako nga EE pero nagka shift sa IT e, nung time namin 2 lang ang comp. subjects ng EE
Pag nakakita ka ng company na may training na ino offer, tyagain mo na yun for the sake na magkaron ng programming knowledge... ano hot ngayon na language, well... java, C#. syempre classic at safe bet lagi yung c/c++. Ngayon pag may experience ka na.. thats the time na maghahanap ka na ng.... big bucks!
good luck bro!

February 14th, 2007 10:21 PM #12ako nasa IT pero more on the sales/project management/marketing/support....actually depende sa araw I have to wear many hats
we're a system integrator specializing in server based computing, backup/storage solutions and DR consulting- my posting this is to give you some insight on where some of your skills may lie
here's the kicker- I don't have an IT background
but my teammates do and they started just like you
one thing I saw in all of them is they love to learn and problem solve- sabi nga ng mga puti madalas samin is RTFM (google mo na lang) kasi sobra magaling sa kapaan ang noypi
as a solutions provider we depend on our tech teammates to help me position a proof of concept or provide options- not "box push", do R&D etc.
my role in the whole thing is to lay the ground work so "the propeller heads" as we affectionally call them do their magic and share/teach support & admin people to stop fire fighting since it seems that's what takes up most of ther time instead of being free to contribute to core goals of their companies
when presentations focusing on cost benefit matrices, networking with other providers here and in the region- basically being an orchestrator for logistics- facing up to decision makers in neogtiations or just plain old driving for my buddies is called for- I do it.
now alam natin sa IT alang tigil na pag aaral yan since some new gizmo/software comes up when you were still just beginning to get the hang of the one just handed to you...in this case google is your best friend as well as the numerous tech boards/forums
medyo lumilihis nako pero if you have a foundation built on wanting to learn no matter what it takes and being able to get out of your comfort zones to immerse yourself in project management, self led teamsmanship etc. then you won't have a hard time to join solutions provider

also belong to the IT field pero yung line ng work ko ngayon eh di gaano na aapply. Nasa academe ako so mostly, it is on teaching and on research. The pay is just okey (and sustain me and my family). Some friends are edging me to apply abroad but I prefer to be with my family. And I also don't have the skills and experience (programming) in developing IT solutions.
I also enrolled in Cisco (CCNA 1) pero nung CCNA 2 na kami, biglang napirate yung nagtuturo sa amin. Malaki daw offer niya sa Manila. So, I think you are in a very promising industry. Mixed nga lang ang assessment ng mga tao ngayon with regards to computer networks.
You already have the needed industry certifications (kahit paano recognized yung knowledge mo). Hirap din kaya magkaroon ng certificate lalo na sa field ng networks. Apply ka sa mga Companies sa Makati. Or apply ka na lang sa mga IT schools na nag ooffer ng CISCO academy certification programs. Diyan mostly naghahanap yung mga companies in need. Believe in your capabilities. Ang hanap ng industry ngayon eh yung may na meet na standards sa skills and knowledge.
Good Luck bro!

Also in the IT field = Design and Web Development/Programming, don't have any formal training. Just relied on google and bought some books, spent some late nights reading and practicing my programming skills. Dami ko pang gustong matutunan kulang lang sa oras because of pending work. Am not employed, am just doing this as freelance work...
Tama sila, you can try out working for a call center as a techical support tech, may training din sila dun maybe it can help you in your future employment. Good luck bro.
Lots of talented IT people here in tsikot

IT dude here as well.
Can't be too picky if you don't have any experience in the real world yet. So I suggest to get as much working experience as you can. May it be a call center or not.

Ung SSS at TIN siguro habol nila. Kahit yung freelance/homeservice ko na experience for 1 year as computer technician hindi umubra.Kamot ulo.
Tama kayo, mag work muna ng kahit ano. And the closest is tech support.
Aapply nako tech support kapag wala pa talaga 1 month from now.
*Hanren gusto mo paba mag take ng cCNA exam?Pwede naman kahit hindi mo kompleto yung academy.
