i think more OFW's should look into forward hedges to minimize their risk from currency fluctuations.
i'm not sure how expensive it would be to do at a personal level, but usually companies that have substantial currency risk (like a company that produces goods in China but sells them all in the US) buy hedge options to convert their currency at a fixed x-rate later on. that way the exchange rate is 'locked in' and you won't have to worry about the peso strengthening as long as your hedge has not expired.
another option is to put your investments in the other currency to help cancel out the bad effects of a move in any direction. for example, if i earn all my money in USD but spend it all in PhP, i can make investments that earn me PhP, so kahit alin dun sa dalawa ang tumaas, either yung sweldo mo ang mas malakas, o yung kita mo sa bizness sa philippines.
did you mean na mag-ala Euro as having a single currency for the region? medyo malabong mangyari yan. masyadong malaki ang disparity ng buying power ng iba't-ibang asian currencies. lalong lulubog ang mga poorer countries because it would need to spend more than the richer countries.
The Fed didnt raise rates last night... "inflation pressures have eased" daw
eh dati kasi $30 lang oil, ngayon $58... nag $70 pa last may 2006...
world oil ang tumaas...
im a european studies mgmt graduate... hindi pwede sa ASEAN ang euro... we dont need to, marami nanaman ang population natin eh and lalo lala ang organized crime, laundering, and discrimination sa citizens of poor countries by citizens of rich countries...
it's a never ending cycle. swerte talaga ng gobyerno.
Wilshire Consulting has said that Philippines' score improved more than any other country based on factors such as overall political stability, labor practices, investor protection and capital market openness surpassing Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, and was higher than China, India and Russia... how true is this??
I am an OFW and an avid fan of our present leader, i cant deny. Hearing good news from foregners mouth like this surely means i have bright prospect for my family's future not by working abroad but back in our country.(i am sick of being abroad!!)
You guys there are truly the hero not us OFW!
Lahat tayo eh dapat considered bayani wether OFW or simpleng empleyado lang.

So anong best solution for OFW to save their earnings??? sakit na ulo ko kaka isip pano gagawin sayang namankung dollars tapos bilis ng pag baba
Straight deposit to Peso account, not dollar account. So far walang sakit ng ulo!Forget about dollar will bounce back after election
