pero syempre kulang daw yung increase

'P22 NCR wage hike an insult to workers'
    http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/me...insult-workers
MANILA, Philippines - Several groups on Tuesday decried the decision of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region to grant a P22 increase to the minimum wage of workers in Metro Manila, more than 2 years after the last wage order was issued.

Kilusang Mayo Uno vice-chairman Lito Ostares said the P22 wage increase was an "insult" to minimum wage workers who have long fought for a substantial wage increase.

"No one is happy with this decision except for the [Employers Confederation of the Philippines] and the government. For us workers, this is a big insult. It's not even enough to buy a kilo of rice. One kilo of rice is worth P28 to P32, the type of rice that people can eat," he said in a radio dzMM interview.

Well what can we do nandyan na eh... Pero to be honest I am quite relieve P22 lang sana it stops there na kung hindi I might have not renew someones contract once it expires and force the others to work his load... Raising prices is the last resort kasi apektado din sales dyan if customers see that you increased your price...

I wish it was that simple... ideal to kapag ang competition ay hindi nagpapatayan.. yun tipong oil companies that they allegedly "cooperate together to maximize their gains as an industry"... but.. kung ang industry na kinalalagyan ng negosyo mo ay yung tipong patayan ng competitors... hindi ganoon ka simple...

if your competitor has a competitive advantage against you, like location, distribution, brand name, costs, maaaring they can still keep their prices at current levels, even with increase in salaries, especially if salaries only comprise a small % of their costs.. if you don't have that advantage, you have no choice but to accept lower margins (to maintain sales) or to increase prices to maintain margins per unit (but may affect overall sales)...

and then the government revenue agency wouldn't believe nor accept that sales is down.. or if margins are down....

never naman nila inisip ang employers.. hindi naman nila ito "constituents" eh... related to sa partylist system eh.. and sa government... the salary increases they can negotiate (whether it be through CBA or through government mandated minimum wage increases) gives them leverage to their constituents -> the workers.. yung mga members ng mga unions nila at federations.. with every pay day, every member makes a mandatory contribution to the union / federation... this is not at all taxed nor audited...

so, pag tumataas ang sahod ng empleyado... mas may leverage sila magtaas ng kanilang mga union fees... then just ask where all these fees go to...

if they only put some of the amount they collect in putting up a business for themselves, and see how difficult it is to comply with ALL the regulations and still keep a modest profit to be shared by their members... ma re realize nila it's not all simple... baka pati sila mag short cut din...

i personally know some people from the labor movement.. sa kanya mismo nanggaling... hirap talaga pag ikaw ang nag nenegosyo.. nung dating sya ang nag negotiate for CBA ng mga members nya.. napakadaling humingi ng increase... pero yung pagtrabahuan yung increase na ibibigay .. hindi lang doble ang hirap...

but it's always more simple and easy to be one sided...
