Which do you prefer if you are a HR staff?
A fresh college graduate with no experience but qualified in the company's qualification or a college undergrad but already gained lot of experiences pero dina-meet yung qualification of MUST ACQUIRED A COLLEGE DEGREE?

It depends upon the position being applied. If its a position with very high possibility of promotion, I would prefer a college grad at least. MA not that important. But if the position and ther personality or aspiration of the candidate fits the profile taht is happy with low-level mgt or supervisory level lang, no need for college degree since handling people is more of an art rather than a science IMO.
That is why the interview will make or break the chances of an applicant eh.
Whew; mabuti na hiring, wag lang firing/dismissal pinag-uusapan.Fasten your seatbelt! Or else... Driven To Thrill!

I prefer a student who graduated with honors. Why? These students were given the same schoolwork as the others yet they studied harder, were able to grasp the concepts being taught, aced exams and were rewarded with high grades. These are the ones that should be hired by companies and trained.
Unfortuantely, in the real world, it is those with connections inside who are hired.
--------
At the turn of the century, the US colonial government selected the best Filipino students (the Pensionados) and sent them to study in Amercia. These students came back and worked in the government. This could be the reason why the Philippines was better off during those days - the best and the brightest were running the country.
My Lolo was one of them. Studied in USA and worked in the Philippine government. He was a man of principle. He wouldn't let his family use the government issued car for errands.
Then after Independence and Liberation, the yahoos with connections took over. My Lolo was instructed to hire people who were close to the new administration and he refused.
He was fired. Just like that.Last edited by donbuggy; May 30th, 2011 at 02:32 PM.

Follow the qualification standards. There was wisdom for that requirement..

It highly depends on the nature of the job, industry, etc.
It does not make sense to generalize these kinds of topics / discussions.

Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
