I've had enough of this and I am finally making the jump.

A few weeks back, my application process has progressed to an offer. It was more than what I was making, but it was still lower than what I wanted. I negotiated beyond the ceiling price and the recruiter hesitantly OK'd. I know I was risking the offer at that point, but I refused to shortchange myself. I was desperate to get out, but I certainly didn't look the part. A few days came by and I got their email reply. People do smell desperation, but I discovered that the smell of confidence is stronger. They caved. Holy **** I got my asking price! *pumps fist* I couldn't be any happier.

Things went fast from there and I pulled my manager aside and told her it was time for me to go. Manager took it well and it was very pleasant and professional, too professional in fact, that it was free of any emotions. Just how it should be in my opinion. All's well that ends well, as a matter of fact. I am about to start at my new job, and I am excited as hell.

For those of you in a similar situation, please know that it will get better. It gets better. But it will do, only if you make the first move. You shall receive, but only if you ask. Sometimes, moving on is the better choice, and not making any is still a choice, albeit a poor one. I think I've made mine and it paid off.

Gist: Didn't do anything at work, but still managed to get myself promoted. Found out that the expectations in my new post was practically zero, so I still ended up doing nothing, just getting paid 50% more. Got bored as hell and my skills stagnated. I learned that while I still get paid good money, it was stressful feeling useless. I was miserable and I complained a lot. Had enough of it and I got myself another job with a 40% salary bump to sweeten the deal.

So what can we learn from all of this? aside from the fact THAT I PISS PURE LUCK, I think its completely fine to complain. Complaining shows the way, complaining makes you see things from a different perspective. But that complaining while doing nothing is completely different and will do you no good. I maybe lucky, but luck favors the prepared.

Thank you for taking the team to read, comment and advice, I appreciate it. keep the positive vibes coming folks!
    Congratulations and good luck bro...

I would have loved to do what you've done.....

And yes, it is a different flavor and volume of sh!t everywhere....

I won't be doing any sh1t at work when my boss goes to Greece for vacation on the first 2 weeks of July. BUT he warned me that we'll be really busy when he gets back.

Be careful what you ask for.
Don't complain about your inactivity at work, if your employer finds out your job is not necessary you will get terminated.

Haven't done sh1t at work since last week. I think it will be the same this week. We have an intern at HQ and my boss assigned most of my week 1 and week 2 work to him :P My boss says I should take this period as relaxation time

I used to not do anything on the first 2 weeks of the month (since my work is month end reporting).

But now, I'm reporting directly in HQ and my new manager/VP is giving me so much stuff to do! I know he is doing this to justify my promotion, but I can only get the role in 2020 (minimum tenure required in my current position) I don't think I can do this for 2 years. I have my work, projects and extra curricular! I am not used to my calendar being filled up with meetings.

Today, I have 3.5 hrs worth of meetings - that is almost half of my day! Friday - 6.5 hrs of meeting! I only have my lunch break as free time. My friends say I cannot tell my boss that I don't want the promotion anymore I'm wondering if the stress is really worth it...

Just tell your boss you are full. He is gauging you how much you could take. Once he knows you cannot take it anymore, hopefully he eases up.

I haven't done sh1t at work this week. Well, I did an hour worth of work in Tuesday and my AVP boss sent me a commendation email for job well done. hahaha! He is the best! Aside from that, I am just at the board the whole day and chatting with my office bud There's really nothing to do because normally my boss would just give me something to do on the first week of the month, but now, none e

Ang hirap kaya mag panggap na busy especially now that I am not alone is my section/area anymore

Was your AVP boss sincere or sarcastic when he/she made that comment?

Professionally, I'd worry if my superiors do not give me work to do or if I can't find anything to do while at work. That means either my bosses don't trust me with my work and they'd rather give it to someone more reliable (i. e. reports to the office on time on a regular basis) or I have become obsolete in my own office.

Professionally and personally that is a bad thing. Because that means I stop growing and I stop learning.

If my boss doesn't trust me with my work, eventually I will become obsolete. I will have no value in my work place and my managers will find ways to replace me.

Simple lang, walang ROI sa akin kung ganun.

    Think about it Cathy.

Unfortunately for us who do real work, mga 3 years pa ata sya bago mag retire. Now that's ROI versus Cost-Benefit analysis.

    Thanks for your concern.

My boss was serious when he sent me that email. He gave me 7-8 hrs to finish the task but I finished it in one hour. My colleague who is good in macros did something so I was able to extract the data faster Of course I did not tell my boss I had a macro for this hahaha!

I'm confident because my boss tells me that I am his favorite He even says I am like the evil queen and he is the mirror, because he constantly has to reassure me that I am "the fairest of them all" = favorite LOL!

I have projects given to me by our VP because he has to justify the excellent rating he gave me (thanks mostly to my boss who talked to him)

The first week of the month is usually our slack time kasi the 3rd and 4th are very busy. Although I don't get to chit chat with my boss anymore unlike before He has too many projects din kasi.

My boss is on vacation in Spain for 2 weeks, he did not leave me anything to do until he is back. I will probably do some projects that will make him happy

He always calls me on my birthday. Last year he did a "salubong" - called me on the eve of my birthday and when midnight came he greeted me and said he is first. So sweet of my boss!

He said this year he will try to call IF he has data daw in Spain hahaha! I told him it's okay kahit hindi na
