SM will one day buy the rights to rename the Philippines to SM Mega-Land. ;)

yes... dito lumalabas.. that to survive.. you have to be big... economies of scale kailangan to a point...

dyan mo makikita how the government works and levels the playing fields... pero kung pareho ng gobyerno natin na sarili lang nila iniisip (mabilis tumabraho pag may direct silang pakinabang, instead na dapat makinabang talaga yung constituent nila)... yan ang mangyayari...

i'ts too bad that a lot of small players medyo backward thinkers pa rin... kung maka form ng association ang mga smaller players.. at least they have a voice... they can share technology among themselves.. they can share markets... tipong friendly coopetition (cooperation + competition)... share logistics etc.. at least.. di man lang totally ma counter ang strength ng big players.. at least.. maka minimize ng impact... and to keep them afloat..

In all honestly, making an association of small companies to gain a more level playing field against the bigger companies have been tried and done. Some were successful while others simply didn't. Others, simply caved in to the differences of personalities that comprised the "association", unable to form any headway towards their original goals because of rivalries between companies.

Sana walang high-rise na madevelop jan.

Kaya nga gustong-gusto ko around greenhills and wilson konti lang matataas na building. Unlike makati na hindi ko maintindihan bakit hinayaan magkaganun.

In San Fernando Pampanga, i was surprised they built a high-rise SM City at the city proper (near the Cathedral and next to the row of old houses). It looks poised to kill the small business in the "palenkge" area and to think SM City Pampanga is just a 5 to 10 minute drive from that area.

Makati has a better road network and nice mix of malls and parks. I wonder how SM will "redevelop" Ortigas Center to match what the Ayalas have done at the CBD.

You're too late. There is already a planned high-rise condo in the middle of greenhills shopping center even before SM came into the picture.
