You have more control of your finances with a debit card.

the famous american lawyer gerry spence wrote in one of his books that he hates bankers and golfers. bankers because they legally rob the people of their hard-earned money. golfers because for every group of golfers, there is at least one banker.

kaya ako i stopped using my credit cards. target ko is to pay them off at the end of this year.

here's the scoop though. Sabi ng tropa ko who used to work for an international bank which offers cc services, pag hindi mo na binayaran utang mo, they'll just write it off. And according to him, hindi daw totooo yung 'blacklist' na yan. Again this is all according to him.

Pay your bills, dont use your card... dont get a card hehehe. avoid the hassle.

Not true. In the banking & financing industry, write-off is merely an accounting practice, that is, placing an allowance as provision for bad debts. But it still has to be collected, and the borrower still has to pay. But since the debt has been written off, the receivable will be classified as miscellaneous income.

When you look at a bank's financial statements kasi, it not good for any investor (por publicly-listed banks) to see that a bank has a high rate of non-performing loans, which is why they have to write it off.

And the blacklist is real. I work for an ISO-certified financing company and we have a savings bank as a subsidiary. I also used to work for a credit bureau, so we have a database of delinquent debtors. Sa Bankers Association of the Philippines Credit Bureau, its NFIS (Negative File Information System), and CIBI has its own Infonet. Generally, if your name is on the list, you will be denied access to credit (credit cards or loans), but it depends on the discretion of the bank.

And although its true that here in RP, nobody can be imprisoned due to indebtedness, it's not worth the hassle of being sued civilly for replevin and sum of money. And if there are bouncing checks involved, then you can be criminally charged, and you will be imprisoned.

I always make it a point to pay the whole balance come monthend.

pareho kaming reason ni skipper... for convenience. primary use ko for credit card is to pay for my gasoline expenses as well as my membership fee sa gym. basically yun lang.

Dati, I maxed out my credit cards and pay just a bit above the minimum, and I had three cards then.

I was paying up to 2,000 pesos monthly in interest alone, and I had a meager salary.

Now I pay off the whole outstanding balance immediately.

debit card na yun, di na credit card. ganon yung sa bpi express cash. you can have it wired to your bank account para auto deduct nalang sa account mo yung payments made with the card.

    Buhayin ko lang ito...

Bad Trip kasi eh... I have aloan sa Citibank Installment Loan payable in 30 months kasi kinapos kami noon kailangan nang pera.

To make it short every month bayad ako for 29 months na hindi man lang sumasablay nung ika 30th month na wala akong billing na natanggap kaya tawag ako sa customer service for the billing nagulat ako na 4.3k daw ang babayaran ko eh dapat lang 1.8k trace daw nya kung bakit then she will give me a call and padala nya billing basta daw nareport ko na.

kahit anong number tawagan mo wala kang lusot :D
