tama yan... "if you can't do the walk, don't do the talk"... or in this case don't get the card...

So if you guys think getting a bad phone call for someone's debt. I think its worse that we have to pay higher interest to cover someone's debt.

i think credit card companies should reward their customers in good standing with more than just their pathetic rewards points. i pay my bills on time all the time and yet i have to pay high interest rates (if i do not pay the full amount) in order to cover their losses for deadbeats that they issued cards to. medyo dito ako nababadtrip.

why am i penalized for the faults of others.

in any case, kung di ko kayang bayaran ng cash, di ko bibilhin, kung hindi emergency

Eh galing daw si Mr. Enriquez ng US, so malamang di pa niya nakukuha yung bill niya.

Hinahanap yung uncle ko, who btw has moved to the US. May naiwan siyang P10K na balanse. Mom ko ata nakasagot that time. Tiyempo namang high-blood siya nun. The collector got his a$$ handed to him.

We can actually do something about it. A certain division of the BSP handles such abusive practices. But like everything else in the Philippine government, M-A-B-A-G-A-L ang aksyon. May inopen daw na line ang Citibank for such complaints.

Lesson: ANG UTANG AY BAYARAN. If you can't afford to pay your credit card debts, then why the hell did you get one in the first, second and third place?!?

I know someone who used to work as a collector at Citibank. She said that they were really trained na mangbastos ng tao. That's actually the reason why she left the company. She also said that the ones with older/bigger debts get assigned to those na super bastos at super taray.

It's sad how Citibank goes about their business.

hmm.. i had a very ver ybad experience with citibank.. matagal na pala tumatawag dito ung girl na naniningil.. it turns out na uncle ko pala ung hinahanap..

the first and last time i received a call from her was last month, i think. she was looking for a certain person with our family name, so i thought it was my dad. un pala, uncle ko nga. narinig ko na lang na minumura na ng dad ko sa inis and i heard him say na clean ang records nya with all the banks na may card cya. when i learned na sobrang years na pala tumatawag ung girl na un, i explained to her na there was a misunderstanding. i told her na maling tao ung tinatawagan nya and we dont know where my uncle is. ang nakakainis pa is tawag cya ng tawag in 2 hours. mga 6 times ata!!! tpos pinipilit nya na nakatira dito uncle ko even if i never saw that person before. i tried to explain to her na mali talaga cya and to stop calling na. napaka-bastos pa nya tpos she spoke in a very very rude manner and voice to me and my dad.

If you are a Balasubas who does not pay his debts, then you deserve all the mura you can get. These CitiBank collectors should even spit on your face. Tama lang yang ginagawa ng mga collector (I doubt that they're CitiBank employees. Maybe they're employees of collection agencies) dahil bad debtors do not deserve any respect whatsoever.

payment mo, kahit isang buwan lang, lalabas yan sa electronic database being used by all banks here in this country. Your record will stay there for 15 years bago mabura. So kung may bad credit record ka, 15 years ka blacklisted and you will get disapproved for all subsequent housing loan, car loan and credit card application that you file with Banks.

If I were you, I'd cut up all my credit cards
right now. The credit card was invented by the
    devil to wreck people's lives!!

it seems like the credit laws and regulations in the philippines are not as evolved as they should be yet.

a creditor certainly has the right to its money, in the timeframe promised by the debtor. anything other than this is breach of contract.

if you're a debtor who is delinquent, you deserve to be called by collectors, and your delinquencies reported on your credit history - and in some cases, even sued. you're also responsible for the interest and the late fees, which you agreed to in your cardmember agreement.

YOU DO NOT, however, deserve to be humiliated, yelled at or embarrassed. this used to happen in the 'bad old days' in the US until laws were passed that levied hefty fines to banks that didn't conduct their business with a certain degree of civility.

this appears to be one of those times were the media really can work for you guys. hopefully the pressure this exerts will generate some reform in the industry.

finally, as i suggested earlier, someone should definitely let Citibank NA know about these practices so they can take action...

i originally posted this on another forum but i guess it also applies here :

in international banking circles, citibank has a reputation of being a haven for money launderers... so, i'm not surprised of the corporate culture prevailing there... never got a credit card or opened a bank account with them and never will...

remember during the erap impeachment trial... citibank was initially very uncooperative with regards to the jose velarde account... it was only after a considerable backlash of citibank clients withdrawing their money and closing their accounts that clarissa ocampo surfaced and citibank started cooperating with the impeachment trial's prosecution lawyers...

    flashing credit cards... IMHO

pagka nagbabayad ako using credit cards mas lalo akong nahihiya eh dahil utang iyon kahit na sabihin mo pang platinum card or diners card ang hawak mo.

I rather pay using my debit card, visa electron or Banco De Oro mas gwapo feeling hehehe.

    para nasa topic pa rin...

many times na naka receive ako ng call sa pinas na inviting me to apply for a credit card, pero once na sinabi kong OFW ako nagte thank you na lang haha.

not me, may problema nga ako sa credit industry di ba?

but i do receive calls from these guys dito sa office, looking for people who are no longer connected with our office. sasabihin pa nila, itinatago namin. and one call is not enough for them. one time, i received a call, di sabi ko matagal na wala dito yun taong hinahanap nya. then tumawg uli, yun clerk namin nakasagot. the 3rd call, ako uli nakasagot, sinagot ko nga na "how many times do we have to tell you na wala na dito ang taong hinahanap nyo? kung gusto nyo pumunta kayo dito, kayo maghanap." kasi arogante pa magsalita.

then, may nagpa-fax pa, naka-loop, ang message, in 2-inch size letters, "Miss So-and-so, please settle your account amounting to Pxxxx.xx."

i think these people are not directly employed sa citibank. and masigasig sila sa collection kasi commission-basis sila.

i should, however, commend AIG, kasi they called up sa bahay one time, na-overlook ng sis ko due date niya. kahit kami na kasama nya sa bahay, hindi nila sinabi the purpose of their call. ang sabi lang, "confidential po, sa kanya na lang po namin sasbihin." and take note of the "po."

what would be interesting to know is how much of Citibank's allowance for bad debts is actually being consumed by credit card holders who do not pay.

when they start aggressively giving out cards, parang sugal na yan sa kanila. they will set aside a certain amount of money to cover the bad debts that will no doubt pile up because of their aggressive card issuing policy.

i work in a company where clients owe us money at any given time, and we have actually fired a few people after hearing repeated complaints from our clients on the bad manners of ou collectors.

but the bottom line is, it is their business, and so they set the rules. it is a free country. i don't like banks in general and so i just miantain a checking account, so i don't have to cary cash around.

if i have excess money, i find safe investments na lang.

so, based sa mga posts, citibank lang talaga ang may problemang ganito..

    wala namang feedback sa iba,

di kaya, maluwag kanilang application puro balasubas nakukuha nila, and in so doing pati members in good standing nadadamay..

Tsaka, ang lakas mangguyo nito, take for ex., ka-officemate ko, meron mastercard, after one year, kasi in good standing daw, binigyan ng pre-approved na visa... kagat naman ang officemate ko, so in a year 2 cards and binabayaran ng membership fee at 1250 each, tapos ang total credit limit is only 40,000.
