I think we should find a channel where we can air our grievances and raise our voices against the banks and institutions that choose to pass on the VAT to consumers. Some institutions, in order to be more economically viable simply absorb the burden of VAT so that their clients don't leave them.

This VAT thing sucks, because the institutions that ought to be paying it (the banks and financial institutions) are passing the tax onto us. If they absorbed the cost, then
we consumers wouldn't feel the burden as badly. I-boycott ang mga banko!!!

thing is, we're gonna be taxed twice...the price of the item you're buying already has VAT. Tapos, the card you're using to pay it with will be imposing VAT as well.

E di don't pay interest... meaning pay off your credit cards in full always. Huwag matempt umutang...

so avoid use the plastic if you can't pay it in full

Can't remember exactly, but I think they usually charge me 5% more than cash ang gamitin!! Ano ba yan?!

I wrote to Visa USA about it and told me that it isn't their ideal practice. They already got the establishment's contact information.

Yung ibang small stores dito sa US, they charge the so called 3% CC fee kung yun ang gagamitin mo. Pero kung CASH ang ibabayad ko, they wont even charge me any sales tax.

3% Credit Card Fee? Really? I have never had any experience of that sort OR maybe I just didn't realize I was charged with that. VISA USA even said that it isn't their practice and told me about it in a letter from them. Those transactions were supposed to be paid by the establishment and not the customer.

Sales tax is the equivalent of VAT(VALUE-ADDED TAX). That also depends on which State you are located. MA sales tax is 5.3% on most items. Of course, there are other categories by different items. Ang difference din ng VAT sa Pinas at SALES TAX dito is how they are presented. Sa Pilipinas, ang nasa price tag is already with the VAT, while dito sa States, papatawan pa ng Sales tax ang nasa price tag.

cyberdoc95, yung mga super discounted items na kaya they dont wanna eat the cost of the VISA/MC fees. So most customers doesnt mind paying the 3% as opposed to paying an MSRP mawawalan ka kse sila talaga ng profit kung pati VISA/MC fee eh babayaran nila after ng super discounted items.
