There are a lot of companies opening up shop left and right, mostly call centers/contact centers who are capitalizing on the sudden need of the industry.
What a lot of call center professionals should know is not all these centers are here for the long haul. Yes, they may be offering you an extremely high salary compared to the previous call center you worked for but ask yourself this... "Will that company be here three months from now? How about a year? How about five years from now?"
Some of our employees fell victim to such when they hastily moved to a call center that offered almost double the base pay that they were getting now. It was rumored that they even got more benefits like transportation allowance, meal allowance, cellphone allowance, etc. Then the company folded up after four (4) months of operations and they suddenly found themselves without a job! Think about it... if a company isn't careful about their finances and they just think of attracting applicants by offering obscenely higher pay and benefits, I am 99% sure that they will fold up as soon as they've started. Running a call center takes more than just getting the right talent in. It's a very difficult balancing act of ensuring you get the right talent, the right account, the right location, the right training, the right investments, and the right attitude.
So the next time you are thinking of working for another call center, check out the stability of the company. Look at its track record. How long have they been operational? How financially strong are they?
ClientLogic (and the companies that united to form what ClientLogic is today) for example has been in the outsourcing business for more than 30 years. It has 55 facilities located in 14 countries and provides jobs to over 20,000 associates worldwide! It's parent company, ONEX has consolidated revenues of over $ 17 Billion and $ 14 Billion in assets. http://www.clientlogic.com/company/profile.html
