"System Glitch" usual spiel namin yan :P

Whoever that person who ran the wrong file is in big trouble. Wala ba sila 4 eyes principle for processes that critical?!?! If it's fully automated, then there is something really wrong with their system. There should be no room for error in banking

In the UK, the act of withdrawing and keeping money that was a result of a bank error is called "Retaining Wrongful Credit", from the 1968 Theft Act.

Can any lawyer here specify what the equivalent Philippine law or Act is?

Ewan lang kung pasok sa qualified theft since the bank trusts that you will report erroneous debit or credit to your account.

Any chance of a bank run?

If it is a payroll account, and assuming the employee has not resigned yet, the bank can recover from future deposits. Now, if it is not a payroll account or the employee resigned after drawing the max allowable amount, I think the bank can tap the credit database to tag these people as delinquent payers. So hindi ka na makapag loan pa in the future. For online fund transfers, BPI can contact the bank where the funds were moved and attempt to recoup. Seriously, konyos will not bother to take advantage of this because their integrity is at stake.

This is what I don't understand sinasabi nila paper lost lang daw.

I'm assuming sa Pera ng company mababawas yun extra credit so walang problema bpi.

But in this case paano walang nawala ng Pera eh nag double credit na saan galing yun extra Pera ng credit ng bpi sa mga accounts?

Siyempre Meron credit dapat Meron debit saan galing yun Pera?

Thats what I don't get hinde naman pwede na from thin air nag credit yun bpi kahit na wala pinagkuhaan

If what BPI is saying is true that they are double posting transactions between April 27 to May 2, those are dates where ordinary employees withdraw their salaries so most likely they are on the overdraft. Only those who made the deposits on those dates will get double credits so tataas ang balance nila.

Problem is, is there a better option that BPI? I'm thinking of closing my savings account and transferring to HSBC. But among local banks, I think BPI is still the best (loyal) I asked my friends and they are not too concerned naman.
