I'd like to apologize to EastWest bank for my erroneous posts on this thread in which I mentioned them.
I just had the chance to talk with my friend -- the one I was posting about in post #71 of this thread -- and it turned out that the bank who tagged her was UnionBank, not EastWest bank. Sorry for the mistake.
And regarding substantial bank accounts with BDO, I found out that she had at that time more than 50M (she won't say exactly how much) with them in various deposit instruments. Despite being close to the BM who recommended her for the credit card, credit card division turned her down because she "owed" UnionBank 5k in unpaid annual dues + interest + penalties. That was BDO in 2015. I wonder how much is considered by BDO as substantial now.
Just sharing and correcting. Thanks.
I would also add that afaik, may points ang branch kapag nakapagpasok sila nang credit card account. May quota rin sila alam.

I also love Citibank! No annual fee for life!

Another one of those stories ... Something's missing from the picture ... Anyone with that kind of deposit would already be offered a premium credit card with no annual fee ...

Bank would find it strange for someone who has 8 digits in their account to be asking for a loan ... Besides, family money is not considered as his money ... Most likely it's a joint account ...
kahit madami ka pera sa bangko kung may history ka na di nagbabayad ng utang sino gusto magpautang sayo
for me mali yung assumption na pag mayaman = creditworthy
madami mayaman na lokoloko ayaw magbayad ng utang kahit kaya nila magbayad
I have a friend na may past debt sa Security Bank then after a year or two lang siya nag pa reconstruct to pay in full na yung utang sa card. But before niya yun bayaran my friend applied for a BDO card and bam approved! Hahaha! Payroll account lang yung bdo account niya so laging ubos. Still a mystery to me bakit siya nabigyan, ako na may laman naman bank account (hindi M) and also clean records nadedecline pa [emoji23] Kung hindi lang maraming branch tong BDO talaga eh. Lilipat na ako sa Security Bank or kung ano mang iba pa na okay.

Madami pang option na bank. Try to divest, malay mo mabigyan ka.
I myself closed my bdo account because i find them hard to transact to.

Same here, car loan and hosing loan ko puro BDO, paid it in full after 2-3 years, applied for a CC but denied lagi, depositor naman ako and laging may pera ang account, then came BPI, they ask me if I want to apply, sabi ko laging denied ako, the manager said siya bahala, after a month may CC na ako, I just use the CC to book plane ticket and hotels lang.
