i agree with this somewhat, but you have to admit, it has a very beneficial side effect of controlling cash outflow

If the point of it all was safety for depositors, they can do multi-factor authentication, SMS notification of withdrawal, etc. E di ba si AUB me OTP dongle pa? Considering di pa sila kalakihan na bank.

Maybe your friend's account was not substantial enough ... and if it was, she could've told BDO she'll close her account and transfer to another bank ...

What would be a substantial amount enough to move BDO?

Haha yes lahat sila natatakot for me pero kasi never pa naman ako nagwithdraw ng 200k. Max na nawithdraw ko was between 50-100k. Kesa ipila ko pa kasi eh. Haha! Lalo na BDO laging ang daming tao. Pina increase ko lang talaga sa max allowed nila especially sa mga pos or debit transactions ko

Based on what you said about your withdrawals aalagaan ka ng bank nyan. Sometimes they will give you courtesy like bank withdrawal and deposit. [emoji16]

Call their hotline if you want to increase BDO withdrawal limit to 200T / day ... Have a separate ATM account, keep balance at a minimum, transfer funds online when you need to withdraw larger amounts ...

So I can ask the manager of my bdo branch pala bakit ako declined for a credit card nila? So far all my credit cards, I applied them all naman. 3 of them wala ako account sakanila kaya nagtataka ako sa BDO bakit ang damot sakin eh. Anyway, I guess I will try to talk to my branch muna if pwde nila idisclose. Kasi as far as my credit history is concerned never ako nagmiss ng payments, advance pa nga since auto debit lahat ng bills, loans ko.

I'm skeptical on this. From what I know the branch manager of a bank and the credit card division of a bank are two separate and autonomous entities and though while bank managers can recommend clients they know to be given credit cards, they cannot dictate on the credit card division if the credit card division decline their recommendation for whatever reason. Unless the client can talk directly to the one in charge of the credit card division ... that's another story.

+1 on this. Do they really have the influence sa credit division lets say may kakilala akong manager? [emoji848]

That is why in the beginning of the sentence there is "If your account is substantial enough ..."

Still ... If the manager has enough clout, he/she can still influence the credit card division ... or the manager can just go higher up ...

Then you will have to do a delicate balancing game.

First you have to find out what "substantial" is to the bank in question. Different banks, different amount for sure. And while the BM may consider your deposits substantial, the credit card division may not. So you have to find out on two fronts.

Second, you have to gauge how aggressive their credit card division is in looking to snare credit card clients. The more aggressive, the better for the applicant. But if the credit card division is looking for quality instead of quantity, you're out of luck.

Third, will you really pull out your account if the bank denies you a credit card?

Take PNB. My mom was "aggressively" being offered a Visa credit card by the BM, free for life annual. Yet her account with them is barely over 4M. Why is that? Probably because PNB credit card division is aggressive in getting clients to sign up for their Visa credit card?

While my friend who I'm sure had deposits higher than 10M -- well you know the story.

But yes, if the BM has clout or has close friends he/she can influence inside the credit card division, that may work in your favor if the BM recommends you.

Yes, talk to the BM, the BM will check your history with their branch and act accordingly.

pag dun ka lang sa lower level, naki-usap, normally barado ka agad, parang default ata nila yan, they will definitely not find ways for you

Haha lagi ko nga naffeel yan para bang ayaw ako iaccommodate sa concern ko regarding credit cards kasi sa credit division daw yun. Magbigay lang daw sila endorsement blah blah.

You definitely can try. The bank manager can always ask on your behalf if he/she does not know the reason for the denial.

Kung good account holder ka i dont think magkakaron ka problem sa pagkuha ng credit cards depende sa amount ng pera mo sa bangko. Sometimes when you pay near your credit limit next transaction they will double your limit. It really depends on your account status. Kung puro delay payment ka e sorry ka nalang[emoji16]
