I have a 2000 Honda Civic with keyless entry/alarm. Recently, parang may sumpong yung alarm. Sometimes it does not respond when you press the buttons. I changed the battery of the remote already. The LED of the remote lights up but the car does not respond. Same goes for the extra remote. Is it time for me to change the alarm or the remote? Any solutions/suggestions?

August 18th, 2006 01:59 AM #2if its an original (oem) honda alarm, its better to have it checked at your honda dealership first... sayang kasi baka may loose connection lang kaysa gagastos ka pa ng panibagong alarm... sayang pera diba? kaya lang langit din kung tumaga ang honda dealer... pag sa tindahan eh kahit hindi sira para makabenta lang sila sasabihin nila na "sige palitan mo na wala na talaga pagasa iyan." tsk tsk tsk... grrrrr... hehehe

August 19th, 2006 11:54 PM #4Same thing happened to my Jazz 2005. Factory installed ang alarm at parating na lang nagha-hang (no response) after a few weeks of use. Brought it twice to Honda to have it fixed (abala na nga). Still the same problem.
Finally, they changed the alarm. So far, wala na akong na-encounter na problema.

October 20th, 2006 09:33 PM #8Check mo yung alarm ECU (sa ilalim ng dash). Minsan may antenna iyan (malambot na wire) na kailangan lang i-reposition for better reception
Or just do what I did (to my Pajero). Sinapak ko yung alarm ECU. Okey pa din hanggang ngayon.

October 21st, 2006 12:08 AM #9pwede i -DIY yan. the alarm's remote has an adjustable frequency knob. just turn it clockwise or counterlockwise while pressing the alarm button until the car alarm responds. or better bring it to a shop that has this frequency analyzer for alarms.

October 21st, 2006 10:07 AM #11Possible cause also is stuck-up actuator. Specially the master actuator at the driver door side. Kase may moving part yan eh. kahit ano basta moving part or motor operated subject pa rin yan sa mechanical wear and tear. To think of it that its year 2000 pa.
Presently I'm experiencing this problem. Minsan gagana minsan hindi. All I have to do is exercise the door lock with the keys or pull the lock tab first then try to operate the remote control. Kung di parin gagana, pa check mo nalang starting muna from the remote down to the actuator and last ang module. Dapat pinaka last option na ang palit alarm system with new unit until proven na ang electronic module ang defective.
