    hi,

meron na pong topic about sa car alarm dito sa tsikot pero wala yata ako nakitang topic about gsm based car alarm.. meron po dito sa pinas?

kumbaga po eh standard alarm din sya with remote for arm and disarm.. then pag meron intrusion or nag-active yung mga sensors eh mag-send sa owner ng text message ..

tapos pwede din sana gamitin smart or globe sim card..
parang mas useful ata dito pag nasa mall ka like megamall.. sabi kasi nila eh di daw effective yung mannix sa mga ganitong location..

meron po kaya nito sa pinas? GSM or GPS based car alarm system?

    thanks

there are several companies offering GSM based vehicle tracking devices, some are equipped with alarm features. the module itself have a simcard slot, where you put a simcard from globe or smart. you can program it to send a sms to one or more cellphones reporting the location of the vehicle. you can set the time interval of sms reporting.

kapag naka receive ka ng text from your vehicle, and feel mo na-carnap ito, you can text your vehicle to stop the engine, or turn on the siren or horn.

but these services have a monthly fee, less than a thousand ata.

I guess we could cut out the common smart/globe features in favor of products which would actually differentiate us from the competition. hehe.

Tracking systems firm acts on need to secure one's car
ANTS (Asian Navigation and Tracking Systems) Inc., which provides location-based services, recently launched GOTCHA!--its latest line in vehicle security and tracking--at the Power Kart race track in Rockwell,

Gerry Castro, ANTS vice-president for marketing, and Fritz Gaston, ANTS vice-president for sales, demonstrated the different features of the GOTCHA! Vehicle Security Control System.

Part of the launch was reenactments highlighting the main features of the product:

Alarm -- During the reenactment of a car break-in, the owner was immediately informed of the violation via text message. With this feature, even when you are beyond earshot of your car alarm sounding off, you can still respond to the incident immediately.

Immobilize -- If the car thief succeeds in driving off with your car, you can immobilize your car's engine by simply sending a text command. Current location of your car can also be requested through text as well.

Track -- A member of the audience was asked to try out the tracking system himself and drove out of Rockwell in a vehicle equipped with GOTCHA! Another member of the audience was then asked to track the mobile car through text as well as through the web. This was verified by calling the volunteer driver to confirm his location.
Another reenactment was on kidnapping. The victim was able to send a panic signal to her family who was able to track her signal and real-time location while police authorities were sought.

There are different types of GOTCHA! systems to choose from for vehicles. GOTCHA! ViCEL runs on GSM technology and allows you to track your car within a radius of 50 meters. GOTCHA! ViSAT tracks via GPS or Global Positioning Satellite, with an accuracy of up to five meters.

The systems range from a price of PhP9,900 to PhP14,900, with a monthly subscription fee of PhP390 to PhP590. Some cell phones cost almost twice as much as this tracking system--yet the latter gives you peace of mind for your car and more importantly your family.

GOTCHA works on any GSM cellphone capable of text messaging.
