I've been using an Escort Redline the past two years and have never got any ticket since I had one.
I use it with Waze to track police and to make sure I know where they are.
    Anyone of you use one?

Hi Retz, I live in VA - one of the very few states that forbids using radar detectors. Valentine One can be detected by a RDD (radar detector detector) and Escort Redline is one of the 3 undetectable RDs in the market: https://www.escortradar.com/redline/

    I use a Valentine One.

Given in the Philippines, there is no RDD in use nor any laws against the use of radar detectors, it is enough. Also to increase my protection against LIDAR, I also have installed laser jammers on my ride. So far it has proven effective against what the local MMDA lidar system.

I didn't know MMDA uses lidar back there.
Cops here use lidar here too but they are lazy so half of the time, they use radar - which is very easy to detect.
How much is a speeding ticket back there? Can you still bribe them? I remember back in college, I just give them P100. I got pulled over one time for expired tags, expired driver's license, custom painted tags and I believe I was driving during my coding day - cop asked P1,200 which I was forced to pay since they took my DL.

I bought it online. US$400 (without shipping/taxes) when I got it years ago.
Just saying there are better detectors today than V1, it is just that when I bought mine, V1 was one of the better ones then.

The MMDA fine is P2,000 if they catch you speeding with their fancy lidar gun.

As of what I know, the MMDA only has lidar guns in use along Macapagal and Commonwealth Ave.
NLEX and SCTEX use radar guns, sometimes in a "pop" style.
SLEX is using lidar on a certain section but not often.
Coastal road (to Cavite) was playing with some radar guns over a year ago but no definite news if they are using them.

Thanks GH. The fine/penalty is reasonable considering that a lidar gun costs a few thousand dollars.
What brand is your jammer system? I almost bought a set of Laser Interceptor but my wife wouldn't let me get one.
She said, I'm just giving my self another reason to speed more.

My laser jammer is a BLINDER.

I purchased it from an online store based in Australia which was fine with me since the lidar guns used by the MMDA are the same ones used by the Australian police.

By the time your laser detector alerts you, you're already caught. You need a jammer along with the detector to make it worthwhile.

I'm fully aware of that and that's the reason why I've been thinking of getting one.
The big issue is, laser jammers are illegal in the US and I believe the penalty is big when they catch you - not to mention, they'll take your jammer system and a big possibility that they'll charge you for wreckless driving. I've been relying mostly on my RD and Waze. RD fine is only $40 on first offense here in Virginia. Plus, you can easily spot someone who is using a lidar gun (lidars won't work on a moving police car, and it also won't work behind a windshield).

Even if the vehicle is stationary, lidars units cannot be used without a tripod because simply holding it results in small movements of the lidar unit itself. Those small movements will be read by the lidar unit as "speed" on the targeted vehicle. So there will be a difference between real speed and detected speed.

Cops here usually hide behind a tree or fence or just park their car sideways, with windows down and use the door as props.

Any updates on radar detectors? Is anyone else here using radar detectors?

    Walter,

I'm waiting for the same feedbacks like you. But none so far, here or in sulit. Either no one bought it yet, or no one ever made comments, good or bad.

The items already had NO warranty, and can't be tested either. Talagang leap of faith ang kailangan.

I bought two, Whistler CR85 from Ebay (140 USD) and Cobra (5500 PHP) from Sulit, from a seller based in Davao. One for each of my two rides.

Tried on NLEX and SLEX but rarely do they beep. Maybe the hiway patrol is asleep. But I do notice they interfere with the EPASS system. And they beep alot within the city. Hmmmm.
