Regarding Mapfactor Navigator I found a better alternative that uses the same Open street maps data. The most accurate map of the philippines second to google maps and roadguideph. OsmAnd is the app and it sports better searching for destinations and a better UI than Mapfactor. It also has alot of advanced options for people who want to customize the application. It's free and there is also a paid version if you want to contribute to future development of the app.

Setup of the app is a bit complicated compared to mapfactor since you have to download the philippine maps and the navigation guidance voice has to be downloaded separately the first time you start the app.

I use both OsmAnd and Navdroyd (both "full" versions). Mas gusto ko lang yung interface ni Navdroyd during navigation pero appearance and update ng maps, OsmAnd wins hands down.

Both uses openstreetmaps.org for map updates. Phone is an ICS 4.0 with a 1ghz single core processor and 512mb RAM (Lenovo P700). So far both apps work flawless with my unit.

I'm still on trial stage of using OsmAnd android app. I think I could now plan my route from Manila to La Union with this app.

I remember my experience with Google map, naghahanap kami ng atm going to baler. may nakita naman Google map, and we followed it. We found out that the atm is plotted in the middle of the rice field.

Speaking of Google, gumagana na yung Google Navigation sa Pinas. Dati hindi eh. Just found that out today.

OsmAnd - only GPS connection is required.
after you download the offline maps, ready to use sya even
    without internet connection.
it can even track your speed.

very accurate - used it during our Ilocos trip last May.

Mapfactor Navigator for me used on my Cloudfone Thrill 430x with it's huge 4160mAh battery
2 hours of continuous usage usually just consumes around 10% - 15% of battery life

Just download the Philippines map and your good to go, no internet connection needed. Has turn by turn spoken directions and route calculation happens really fast. It has a nice 3D mode with lots of POI (not as much as OSM though) and it shows the speed limits on a certain stretch of road.
Only gripe is it doesn't use the phone's compass to point where you are headed but uses the direction of your motion instead. So when your are in a complete stop, the arrow pointing to a single direction turns into an arrow pointing into 4 directions

Mapfactor Navigator for me is still my best companion offline. It serves me well during my Manila-Leyte route no need for data connectivity, and this is my first time to drive this route.

I'll be using this android app when I'm going to La Union this August. Which route did you pass from NLEX to MacArthur-Hi-way?
